Dry, but not hot conditions for Monza - advantage Birdgestone?

Just looked at the ITVF1 weather report, it states they can expect a high of 26C on Friday.

That isn't exactly baking hot, Bridgestone may have the upper hand here I feel.

Slightly cooler conditions will help Bridgestone. However I still expect Michelin to have the upper hand (despite everything).

I think the different nature of the circuit is more likely to play a key. Although Monza has it's share of slow corners too.

ASCII Man In Hungary the temperature was not 22C that is for sure. Not that I want to argue, but it is a fact. It was hotter than hell :-).

How can they be so sure about dry weather? Lots of rain are falling on the area today, and forecast for next days are still about rain.
IMO it's too early to set weather predictions for the weekend.
Let's wait at least until wednesday evening.
easier to predict that hottest summer ever is behind us, and fresh air will delight BS-shod teams.

Damn I never thought I would see the day I prayed for rain.

I think Michelin has better tires, period. Only rain, IMO will slow them to equal or lesser pace.

Surely you don't think the Michelin teams would even be equal in the rain, neilap? All past evidence suggests otherwise (in Brazil it was Bridgestone Intermediates vs. Michelin Full Wets, so that isn't a good comparison...).

Both had intermediates. You must be thinking of Silverstone 2002.

Michelin had what was considered to be extreme weather tires while BS did not expect the monsoons so they brought a much more conservative tire. I thought they did have intemediates, thats why they came on so well near the races end. Thats why Fissi was able to pass KR. I am not certain though.

No, at this time I dont think the Michelins are a match for BS in the wet. However, the strides Michelin have made this year would not eliminate the possibility of them making a marked imporvement in this area too. After all its been awhile since we had a chance to compare the two.

Dunno about rain, but updated forecast talk about snow to fall on the Alps Thursday: hard to predict that temperatures may get high on the weekend.

Friday showers should be good for a laugh - anything to stir-up the top three is ok by me: I want the eventual championship winner to win this war of nerves as well as prove it with pure driving.

When was the last wet/rain-affected Monza F1 GP?

I believe there's never been one, in the entire history of the event. Italy in mid-September is a great place to be.
