The new A Class would be a nice looking touring car.

Yes the CLA saloon would be a good choice.

Waiting for the first complaint about it being a hatchback.

Very nice. Hopefully that's another competitive used NGTC car on the market too. I don't think they'll be ripping the Avensis to pieces for the Mercedes. Just Alan Gow with his propaganda as usual.

That's disappointing to know. Thanks for the explanation nonetheless!

Yep.

Whilst it's a spec subframe, AFAIK each car has different mounting points to the actual bodyshell..

And how you can take knowledge of setup's from a four door Toyota to a five door Mercedes is another question, both cars will have different weights, centre of gravities etc..

Agreed - I am sure they will be wanting to sell the Avensis as a complete car!

Some of the spares may transfer over though.

Nope. The subframes mount to the TOCA designed spec rollcage. As mentioned The only real affect a shell makes to the car is a bit of Aero and differences in wheelbase/centre of gravity weight distribution..

It definitely seems like the ideal car that Merc would choose to run in a series like the BTCC - pushing the sporty credentials of a borderline model.

I do hope they sell the Avensis, definitely some good drivers out there in need of an NGTC car to keep running next year, particularly one with podium potential.

The Avensis will be sold at the end of the season. See the last paragraph of this here.

Lea Wood says he would like to run an NGTC car, maybe this could be an affordable option?

Given that it costs north of £250K to build an NGTC car, I wonder what they go for second hand... maybe John Thorne could give us 'an estimate' based on his experience.

You can have a copy of the invoice if you like

We sold the first car for £200k including the engine. At the time you could own an engine but now its daft to do that so most lease (cheaper).
