The council has five designers interested in bidding for the design of the new circuit.
There are two International and three local organisations. A short list of three will apparently be announced within 3 weeks, and then narrowed to one in July. |

The State Gov has just announced $10 mil for the second circuit to go along with the $5 mil they have already promised.

A lot of this is to do with the local state member being toxically unpopular because of his role in the failed council amalgamations. The state government will throw bribes at the electorate to present him in a different light. They are willing to spend at least $15mill of taxpayers money to keep him in a job.Paul Toole Raceway anyone?

Probably the same level of excitement when told you're racing at the Bugatti circuit at Le Mans or Indianapolis Raceway Park.

Talking to some motor sport friends from the Riverina, Orana ,New England and northwest regions of the state they are can't wait for the new track to be operational.
Whilst distance is not a major issue for most country folk they all agree that the location is ideal and will be well supported by clubs and individuals as it is a bit closer to home and cheaper to attend than either SMSP in the big smoke or Wakefield (described as being as welcoming as a leper colony by one friend!). A lot of ground work has been done by BRC, enthusiasts (motorcycling in particular) and Paul Toole for a very lengthy period of time and the State Govt. sees the city as being a leader in rural sustainability, employment and tourism - things the Govt receives benefits from in the form of tax etc to help the overall state. All we need now is another hillclimb included in the project. |

They have narrowed it siren to 3 companies that out in EOI. They have now been asked to tender for the circuit design. The tender closes in May.

Remains a world championship level WOFTAM when its a rare year to be at the B12H or SCAB1000 and not have the car covered in mud and craap because the parking areas turn to industrial grade mush at the mere whisper of precipitation.

It seems they are a long way from following the Councils own schedule set out in the EOI !.
""The successful tender is planned to be accepted by Council in July 2017, with an anticipated design, documentation and lodgement to NSW Planning prior to December 2017."" So three companies will have spent 10-11 months on bids for the tender - seems like a big investment unless you know you have the inside running ?. Looks like the 3 "winners" in the EOI had a big dummy spit about meeting the timeline in the EOI, and were gifted a new timeline. Or maybe the council are waiting for more donations to the building fund from the taxpayers of New South Wales and Australia ?. Not that any of us really care for the Bathurst 2nd Circuit proposal. |

The toxicity of the stadium rebuilds will stop the state government giving any more money for the construction of major sports facilities for a long time. The council was counting on another $15mill from them on top of money already gifted for Paul Toole Raceway.

Can't see it happening in my lifetime.
It's probably harder to leverage from the council's perspective, when the coffers are aware that there's a race track right next door. We enthusiasts may know the obvious differences, but the pen-pushers wouldn't. |

Winning tender for the design phase announced: Apex again
Wonder if they'll ever get the money to actually build it? Apex tends to generate gold-plated costs for some of their work so might end up being a very expensive circuit. |
