NEXTEL Cup: Bass Pro Shops 500 @ Atlanta (SPOILERS)

Reading on Jayski.com that there's a lot of rain forecasted for today. This could potentially ruin things for A.J. Allmendinger should qualifying be rained out. It would also mean Team Red Bull would miss their second straight race in as many attempts as Bill Elliott failed to qualify for the race at Charlotte a few weeks back.

I sure hope the rain stays away.

The weather channel site is showing a large storm system in the area. It could drift away later in the day, but it looks likely that it will cancel qualifying.

It has all gone hideously wrong for Jeff Gordon. Again.

Only the top 5 drivers have a realistic chance of winning now and Harvick and Gordon will need an extremely hot streak, plus a healthy dose of luck, to win given their deficits. Martin, Kahne, and Busch are toast.

Anyone could have won in the 97' Williams...

Yeah, Gordon would have made the last 3 races even more interesting if he hadn't been taken out at Atlanta.

BTW, I would rate the race a 9 on a scale of 1 to 10. Good race. The Chase keeps changing in ways no one expects. Every time you think a driver is the favorite things are turned upside down.

I'm angry at the TV schedual.

They're showing a full replay as we speak. Which would be fine, except i'm dead tired and about to goto bed. I wish they'd just show a short butchered 1hr one instead

I wonder if Stewart wins more races if they'll change the points system again?

Yeh not a bad race, Hamlin, Burton managed to salvage ok finishes out of it. I feel sorry for Mark Martin, he never has any luck.

How was Dave Burns grilling Robby Gordon after the race about the rollcage padding haha!

Quite enjoyable race that.

Quality fence climbing from Tony at the end there, right into the flagstand.

I liked how he was wearing a fan's old hat, it looked like Harvick's one that was meant to 'look' old and torn :P

Looks like Gordon ended up getting a penalty for causing that caution, I agree with it.
