I trust you were using a period camera to take the pictures, Peter?

Thank you Peter, correct. Given the "relatively" hard to find parts and the use made, they showed a very high level of reliability. Only one Bugatti lost a half shaft and all the attached parts (a Jag' as well in an other grid).

My tupence worth...

Tv direction for the channel.l feed was a bit amateur.

Many times key action was missed as focus changed to something random.

On the commentary front, Ben Edwards was great as usual but he was let down by Bruce (don't wamt to relinquish the mic) Jones, Alice (state the obvious in a shouty style) Powell and the other guy who didn't seem to know what was going on anyway !?!

Derwent is heading for a stewards' enquiry!
I like Alice Powell, we need younger and female people on the mic. She seems to know a lot or do her homework.
Having done a bit on on venue commentary over the years, it is easy to listen an criticise.

We can all be picky. Both she and Ben suggested that you can only see the Group 1 cars at Goodwood. They ignored the Gerry Marshall Trophy run by the HRDC and of course the Tony Dron Trophy run as part of the MRL Touring Car Challenge. But I like her as well.

Peter, assuming 36 frames per roll, you would have taken 5724 images

That should keep the Boots Photographic Counter busy for a while.

Having moved entirely to digital ((being basically idle), I have no idea of the cost of a roll of film these days, but it must be in the region of a mortgage payment by now.

I look forward to seeing plenty of activity on the Picture Parade..

Good for you, using an appropriate camera,

Kind regards,

Bawb.

PERSONALLY, I don't care for female commentators, the voices just do not fit a 'manly' sport, and they always seem to be trying to proving how good they are. I enjoy professional cycling, but Eurosport are now using females a lot, and they always talk too much, as if desperate to demonstrate their right to be there.

Girls? On the bike, but not the mic. They should stick to doing and quit the talking.

Purely a personal opinion. No offence intended to fans of the breed.

Totally disagree with you - there are good and bad commentators, male and female.

I haven't seen the latest GW feed, but I do enjoy Alice commentating. I've heard her before and if she makes the odd mistake - well, dear old Murray was never perfect either.

It looks so easy, commentating. It certainly isn't. Hats off to whoever can do it even half well.

I think she's been more than half well and that she brought the fresh air of her youth an enthousiasm. And yes, I'm with you both it's not easy specially whith so many men around not forgetting its really a small world hosted by long term specialists. IMO.

I really don't agree. We need the most competent people male or female. Enthusiasm is often overated or inappropriate.

I cannot abide the over the top, drony or staccato styles that nearly all 'new' commentators that have appeared on the scene in the past half dozen years (since bloody Croft!) seem to dish out...

Most people who are watchimg aren't idiots or 3 year olds so why do tv producers seem to think that what we deserve?

Just caught it on ITV4. Great racing but the Tv commentary was dreadful. The “American” car description by number “the 166 car” was grating but for me even worse no real knowledge of what they were watching particularly the female commentator.
