Thanks for the intro to Mid-Ohio, DanicaFan.

Somehow I wish Sam Schmidt Motorsports would have fielded an experienced driver (Wheldon would have been a dream) in the 2nd car since the #77 was leading a lot of laps there last year. That way, they could have had a chance at winning it this year.
But now, I'm not so sure about that.

Now that Castroneves has had a comeback of sorts at Edmonton, will we see the comeback of Briscoe at Mid-Ohio? It's about time.

And what about local hero Rahal? He surely must aim at the win at his home race.

Then, there is the battle for the championship with road course star Will Power still playing catch-up to Dario Franchitti on what is to be the last road course before a number of ovals in the calendar. So this one could well become a championship decider of sorts.

There are many storylines in this race. It'll be worth watching.

Actually, there are two more non-ovals after this event. There's Baltimore, but also, due to the unusual circumstances across the Pacific, Motegi will be on the road course.

Hopefully the extended forecast holds, and it's only 85-90 for race weekend at Mid Ohio. It would sure beat the 100-110+ we've been having down here for weeks now.

No, there's three left. Or did you already forget Infineon?

I conveniently forgot Sears Point, because, compared to the Sportscar Circuit, I have no love for the Motorcycle Circuit there, which is the layout the Indy Cars use.

I still like it more than any of the ovals left on calendar.

At least the delayed ESPN2 highlight show of saturday's ALMS race doesn't clash with Versus broadcasts this time round, so ratings might be marginally better

It looks like I will be up there for Saturday and Sunday. It'll be a good time, and anyway, 85-90 degrees sure as hell beats the 113 forecasted for here today.

Just look for the short guy with glasses, a white cane, and a small pair of binoculars. I'll probably have either my Dunlop or Baltimore Grand Prix cap on.

I suppose the field will go by a little more quickly in the opening laps, since we won't be waiting in anticipation of Milka Duno finally coming past.

Well, the tickets are ordered. So, we'll drive up to somewhere north of Columbus on Friday, and drive into the track Saturday morning.

I'll be rooting for Helio, like usual, but it's kind of annoying with the changes in liveries that now two of the Penske cars aren't nearly as easy for me to pick out anymore.

I have a sneaking suspicion that the ALMS Autograph Session is likely to be during IndyCar qualifying, but what can you do.

Purist, its your lucky day, no they will not be during the same time..

ALMS autograph session is on Saturday from 12:00pm -12:45pm. The Indycar qualifications are from 12:55-2:15pm.

An interesting tidbit, from 1990-1997, there were four different winners of the Mid-Ohio CART Champ Car race, all of which were back-to-back.

1990-91: Michael Andretti
1992-93: Emerson Fittipaldi
1994-95: Al Unser Jr.
1996-97: Alex Zanardi

There have been two other drivers who won this race back-to-back, Bobby Rahal in 1985-86 and Helio Castroneves in 2000-01. Don't beleive me? Check this out: http://www.racermagazine-digital.com...idohio2011#pg6

It's from Racer Magazine's Mid-Ohio 50th Anniversary piece (click on the "Mid-O Five-O" link on the left side of the screen).

I think there is a replacement racer on board this weekend after Justin Wison crashed and it looks like he has some back pains of some sort and did it during the FP

Just heard about Wilson's crash on the autosport website, hopefully he will be back in the car soon but its looking unlikely for this weekend in my opinion. Fingers crossed its nothing too serious!

Simon Pagenaud replaced Justin Wilson at Dreyer & Reinbold. He isn't racing in ALMS; by the way. I guess that he was expecting to replace an injured driver and/or talking to Honda bosses.

Sucks about Wilson, and I hope the injury isnt serious, Simon is a great driver to replace him for the weekend though.

Here's wishing Justin Wilson a full and speedy recovery.

I also wish him more luck and most of all, success upon his return. It's been a troubled season so far for Team D&R especially considering their 2 drivers' injuries from back in St. Pete.

Pagenaud did a good job as a temporary replacement for Bia at the beginning of the season, so best of luck to him.

We'll see if D&R hire him for the ovals, too, if Justin has to sit out more races, but an oval specialist or an allrounder might be a better choice.
