But you havent wound me up at all, all you've done is give me reason and leverage to highlight your own failings.

I don't know why you do it, but I'm happy to oblige.

One of the reasons Tony gave in the interview was the proximity of the opening round of the OZ GT champs at Clipsal, but I'm not sure that that gig is guaranteed as yet.
Hope the 12 hour is a huge success, that track deserves a genuine International event.
Interesting that Rod will run Michelins on his Corvette.....

Does he have to? Unless they've changed the regs I thought tyre brand was free at the 12 hour.

According to the Supp Regs, Classes A, B, C and I must only be fitted with Michelins as supplied by European Technique.

Another rule that they will probably dump after next years race.

From a competition level, I hate having control tyres. I much prefer having free choice of brand and compound, adding an edge to a smart thinking team, and also of course, bring some price competition too.

But, the event needs the commercial side to work, and this is what it seems to take.

To be honest, even if it were opened up, I still think around 80%, or more, of the runners would stay with Michelin, but I for one would love to have options for different aspects of the weekend.

the issue is for cars that don't fall into Michelin's range, they are instantly screwed.

they are less than ideal for a Lotus for starters, (fronts the wrong format etc), I am sure there are others.

They are less than ideal for many cars, but you tune the best you can.

Sounds like whinging to me, typical aussie approach

Hey all, a couple of days ago i emailed TEAM schubert motorsport asking if they were at least thinking about coming down next year.

Last night i recieved an email from Stefan wendl with this reply.

Hello,

we are considering this race. But it is a very big financial effort. So I can only do this with a proper sponsor or factory back up. We will see where it ends.

Best regards,

Stefan Wendl

Nice work KSM! I really hope they can get the support to come down because they'd be a real asset to the race and take it to Audi, they came second at Spa this year and also won the Dubai and Catalunya 24hr races also. Just hope if they come its not with pay drivers like at Catalunya but moreso their regular drivers such Claudia Hurtgen, Edward Sandstrom etc with enduro help from the likes of Tommy Milner. Handy steerers, all of them.

Hopefully with Audi and possibly Mercedes sending teams down, it'll push BMW to support Schubert to come down. I know the Faster Z4 is heading down but Schubert are the factory blessed/supported Z4 team, they have very strong links with BMW Motorsport.

It would be good to see Clearwater down here with another 458 but remembering last year's race, there were teams that promised to come but didnt for one reason or another..

Thats right, Petronas Syntium were one of those teams with two BMW Z4's, lets hope they mean it next year year and turn up with two Mercedes SLS's.
