Sounds maybe harsh but if these cars are still not reliable and competitive in March 2017 they never gonna be.

And due to the new bodywork of the Volkswagen I assume there was a new homologation for 2017.

Because of controlling costs the freeze is a good step.

BTW I get the impression Opel is not really pushing the TCR project compared to for example SEAT.

Why? Mid februrary there was 3 days testing in Oschersleben and the car was much better than 2016.

WCR confirms Morbidelli and takes Giacomo Altoè. VW Golf takes place of the Honda Civic.

Very very good. The Civic #10 had so many problems, good choice.

Only 5 weeks to go to the opening of the season. What number of cars can we expect to be on the grid? And how many brands will be there?
The racing was good fun last year, so hopefully there will be a similar amount of cars this year.
No mention of TCR Las Américas. So I would say it's officially dead.

Never heard about a TCR Championship in South America. Was it just a talkabout or did they ever raced? :-O

Thanks a lot, I totally missed it!

Well, in the TCR website, under the "TCR World" tab, there's no mention about it, so I think that's a clear "message" that the project's totally dead, as NaBUru38 said.

What can we expect from the round in Georgia? How many cars will be there? Is the track any good (it looks like difficult overtaking from the pictures)?
It looks like the TCR formula works very well for local championships, but the international series are way to expensive, since there are not a lot of confirmed entries.

Didn't see this one coming - Borkovic back in an Alfa (with Kajaia as his team-mate)

http://www.touringcars.net/2017/03/d...017-tcr-season

Leads me to wonder whether B3 Racing are going to be on the grid this year though, as Borkovic was essentially the one who brought them into TCR in the first place - Homola also had an outing with the Engstler team in the Middle East series in Dubai, so maybe there's more to come there as well...?

Nice to see Lukoil continue their Craft-Bamboo partnership. Nash, Oriola and Valente

Happy to see that Valente hasn't hung up his racing boots.

B3 sold their assets during winter (or at least they tried to sold). It would be a huge suprise if they will be in the grid this year. However romours says there will be a hungarian team in the grid. Zengő working on a huge project with Ficza - I think it should be a TCR season (other option should be an ETCC campagin?).

Team Unicorse has a TCR Alfa Romeo, but earlier they said they didn't plan full season in any international series.

Ah right thanks - wasn't aware of that! Suggests either they'd decided before the end of last season they weren't going to carry on or, once the likes of Borkovic and Homola started to look elsewhere, realised they couldn't get the programme together and cut their losses?

The Ficza/Zengo thing makes sense now that they've dropped him in favour of Nagy for their WTCC programme, and I think he'd be better off in TCR than the ETCC - maybe a two-car team with Tassi if B3 are gone?
