Needs to be someone else.. Simona has a contract for next year and simply shifting her to 888 or elsewhere isn't adding anything to the sport..

Abbie Eaton

A very credible pilot for the Holden Supercar drive would be UK female racer Abbie Eaton, race winner, championship winner and experience of big horsepower saloons. Racing a big banger VH Commodore in Europe this year, enjoy the video of her testing the Commodore last year.....https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e44nbCaQd2A

Maybe Holden should get involved with karting - can't imagine it'd be too big a cost to get involved and would help them identify future drivers (both male & female).
Plus a good market to sell dual cab utes into - all those kart trailers need to get towed around by something!

It is when she's consistently further up the grid, in a newer car.

Its claimed Holden is looking a female driver not Supercars, so Holden will be looking after its own interests.

The sport can use a Newcastle style Simona, more please.

It’s kinda funny how the story has referenced a female pilot as being the goal, when apparently Holden had a perfect opportunity to bring one along out of the world of rallying, in Molly Taylor, yet somehow it just didn’t get done.

Story goes Ms Taylor was offered to a couple of teams looking to run Colorado in SuperUtes, yet despite bringing the pilot along, no equipment, technical support or even a financial contribution was allegedly part of the deal.

Ms Taylor is likely soon out of a gig at Subaru ARC too...

Opportunity lost

I think she still would have had a rally gig on the go at the same time.

With an outright ARC title uner her belt, she'll find a seat elsewhere if the Subaru/LWR thing falls over.

In saying that, last I read, she was still keen to give things like the 6hr and 12hr a crack.

I'm hoping RallyX keeps building in Australia, that'd keep her in rally and circuit racing.

Don't know how old Molly Taylor is but you would imagine time in FF or F4 would be good for her to learn a bit about racing and circuit car set up. she is obviously a talented driver but I have my doubts about girls abilities in big heavy cars. They seem to go well in lighter single seaters.

Varies, as it does with males.

Look at the phyisque of female drivers like Chelsea Angelo, Danica Patrick, or Ashley Freiberg. They're built like athletes, and that takes a lot of hard work and determination. Ms Taylor wouldn't be too far behind them. Rallying would certainly be up there in terms of how demanding it is both physically and mentally.

The whole thing, racecraft included, is too wide and varied to be able to correctly benchmark and compare. You have drivers who work hard in the gym, on the simulators, and in the textbooks, but don't get the opportunities to apply it. Conversely, you have those who are gifted a seat, because it's marketable for instance, and can't get the most out of it. This applies to both males, and females.

If Holden wants someone other than Ms de Silvestro, they'll need to invest in developing someone into a seat in the maingame over a few years. Within our shores, we don't have the depth of talent to drop someone into a seat next season. There aren't many drivers out there who don't already have a full-time gig in the main game, that are capable of pedalling these cars at a competitive pace, regardless of gender.

A Holden initiative in Super2 would be great! I know Dragon / Image Racing have some VFs that could use solid sponsorship.

She seems like a decent steerer, and sponsor friendly too.

However, she needs to be moving up the ladder. The NZV8 she's in, is about the equivilent of a late 80's Group A car in all fairness. Are there any plans to move her up into an NZST or TLX chassis for next season? I did read somewhere there were plans for a GT gig of some description.

They could use some solid refurbishment too.

They're 2013-spec cars competing against last year's ones.

Chelsea is very sponsor-friendly and is progressing. Hopefully she moves up next season with her team of loyal sponsors. The GT gig is NZ was a wealthy businessman wanting to enter an all-female team, which is brilliant.

Emily Duggan can steer, she might be worth looking at if Holden were serious about giving female drivers a go.

Despite being signed to Japanese giant Subaru, Taylor could become the first woman to race full-time in a Holden Commodore.
