Phoenix1 should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Positive Champ Car Thoughts Only Please

I was reading the thread about "A Discouraged Fan" http://tentenths.com/forum/showthrea...threadid=51783 and I agree not enough it said in support of OUR series. It's not just 'jo public' who reads this but also potential or current sponsors, drivers etc...

So lets all say one (or more!) positive about Champ Car and see how far we can get!

I agree Phoenix1. The upside is that it's quite easy to tell who they ney sayers are. They are quite consistant. The kind of fan that says "I really want to see driver x win, but he will probably just get a flat tire". I've never understood that mentality.

I have all the faith in the world that Champ Car will mend.

I agree. The problem is much bigger, though. When "on air" personalities, like Robin Miller, leave the Long Beach launch saying, there's no way 18 cars will materialize. When Paul Tracy says, his boss can't even get sponsors & Pat doesn't have a ride. Newspaper articles, about the demise of the series. When I see those, I wonder what potential sponsors are thinking, about Champ Car. We're just small fish, in a big pond of controversy.

Positive. Below is from a Denver Post article dated March 18 announcing the the OWRS/CCWS has purchased the rights to the Denver race from Dover Motor Sports. CCWS will exist, and Robin Miller may or may not be correct regarding the car count at Long Beach. It seems that AF and BR may have expressed their intentions to leave to Robin Miller at the launch. However, this is a positive thread and below is a positive statement from PG:

Champ Car partner Paul Gentilozzi bristled at suggestions the race or series might fold.

"The people saying that we're not going to be around are the ones trying to put us out of business," Gentilozzi said. "We've put our money where our mouths are, and this is an example."

Cheers OWRS owners, teams, drivers and worldwide fans

I have not given up. In no way would I denigrate the series, other to say that in the past the previous management and the engine suppliers did not do enough to keep the series from falling to where it is. However, whether it's the pragmatist in me or maybe just the pessimist in me speaking, I am not holding my breathe to see if the series is going to run this year. I honestly hope they do, but I will not be surprised if it never materializes.

I SAID POSITIVE. Never mind hey! I did NOT want slagging off of any other series of saying this and that are not good enough. Oh well sadly the point that people are to depressing about Champ Car seems true. All people had to do was list the cars that are turning up.

I SAID POSITIVE. Never mind hey!

It is going to be positive. Got my tickets for LBGP in the mail today. Read on another site "champweb" that Justin Wilson will be testing at Sebring next week for MiJack Conquest. It is darkest just before the clearning - CCWS is now in the clearing and moving forward. Viva CCWS

Snrub...
You quote something, totally distasteful, from another website? Only to repost it here? I understand that you're trying to make a point, but that's the wrong way to do it.

Again, I take issue with what makes a "great" quote.

Sebastien Bourdais spoke at length and with honesty to Mags at Sebring this weekend, and we will have his report on Sunday. Bourdais is a realist, but he substantially agrees with Vasser (do we have to call him Mr. Vasser now that he's a boss?) in his outlook on the series. He is positive and looking forward, and he said that a lot of the D&G we are hearing out in the hustings is rubbish that people are apparently simply making up.

Champ Cars will live if we all put our backs into it and make sure that the positive trumps the negative. There will always be a Greek Chorus predicting failure and they must be ignored.

OWRS is working hard to keep the series running. They are
sticking their necks out in order to do this.We loyal fans
owe them at least a THANK YOU!
Sure,it's a business that they are running, but they wouldn't be doing it if they didn't think they could be
successful. They are also in it for their love of racing.
Enjoy the season ahead!

There are now 38 fantasy teams on our grid, approaching the total for last year, after only 3 days of asking. That shows people are still interested in the 2004 season to come!

Wow there is a noticable lack of "veterans" posting in this thread.
I am looking forward to a great '04 season and an even better '05.

Some of us are just waiting for Long Beach.

That first breath of methanol-scented air will do us all good.

From over the water:

Probably the best RACING car series in the world.

Fantastic tracks, cars that can overtake, right balance of power to grip (ie too much of the former, not enough of the latter), and they look pretty mean too.

Well pleased they've survived this long, hope they grow back to their former glory despite the people who are seeking actively to destroy the series. Please come back to visit us again soon.

Well I have thought a little about those push to pass buttons. Maybe they will spice it up enough even if I would have liked to see a single lap qualification there too. I liked CART more when the mixture knobs where there, yes some races were spoiled by fuel conservers but most of the passing and action we saw out there was probably largely because of the knobs, even if many fans don´t want to admit that. I think the rather boring races of the last two years is a good proof of that. Me and probably many with me felt that a push to pass button is something that belongs in a Playstation and not in our beloved world of "realistic" racing. Now when I have thought about it a little it struck me that you cant conserve fuel with those buttons. Maybe it´s not exactly geniously smart of me to come up with this after a few months but I think those playstation buttons can make it fun again. There is one ohter worrying factor here too but it´s not allowed to bring that up here
