Driver Insurance

Following on from the thread about neck supports, I am curious to know what kind of costs are involved and what cover is available for racing drivers. I am new to motorsport but intend to race next year. Can anyone recommend an insurance company or advise on what to look for? I'm assuming it isn't "...and have you had any accidents or claims in the last three years sir..." type questions

On a similar note, what about insurance in general? Cover for transporting the car to and from the tracks on a trailer? Valuation for theft of a car from a garage etc.

It increasing my life insurance, but I figured that was fair enough and it wasn't by a lot. After all stuff might happen.

Of course you can get insurance for the vehicle while towing etc... A lot depends on your normal insurance. Will you drive your racer ont he road, etc...

What exactly are you planning to do?

Several companies do insurance for off track cover, I drive an FF and it costs me about £80 a year but this doesn't include the trailer. Try companies like Footman James. For on track insurance I was given approx 10% car value per day with an excess as well. (This was some time ago so may have changed now)I took out a lowcost separate personal insurance through Insurance Co of America. Hope this helps
