pink69 should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Gulf @ Le mans only!

Stefan johanssons Gulf R8 could only race @ le mans this year. With no ELMS title to defend and penalties for the R8 in the FIA sportscar championship, Le mans is the only drive for the team. I was wondering why he won't enter the ALMS again?

I think he will proabably do Sebring and maybe a few other races, but the US market is not huge for Gulf.

My sources tell me that the gulf colours will be seen at LM only. However it could run elsewhere under a different colour scheme

For me the Gulf colours are sportscar racing, when I hear the name Gulf or see their corporate colours I get visions of Porsches, GT40's and now Audi's dancing in my head. What better way to make an impression than to bring a Gulf sponsored Audi over here to run in the ALMS. Win on Sunday, sell on Monday

Yes, there's something very special about those powder blue and orange colours, isn't there? They seem to sum up power and accomplishment somehow, particularly with the Gulf JWA GT40s and 917's of the late 60's/early 70's.

I for one will be pleased to see Stefan's R8 back at Le Mans, if nothing else.

It reminds me Mirage

When I see the gulf audi last year, it reminded to me the Mirage in the 70', a race with the Renault 440 turbo matching the Porsches...
No metallic fences, we were very close from the cars in La Chapelle !

He might as well join the teams that just do Le Mans and no other races in the year.

Sid The Manager should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
A contact told me that some of the budget was coming from a European Audi subsidiary, neither they nor Gulf are particularly interested in American racing.
Mr mangoletsi needs to get himself sorted, and make it work for Stefan in FIA Sportscars.
We want to see this car racing, not collecting dust.

then he shouldnt have gone a r8 if he wasnt going to race in alms which appears to be the only place outside of lemans their r8 should be allowed to race. they should have gone for a dome/mugen or judd if they wanted to race in the fia scc.

they should just race lemans and then sell the car to a team who could use it for the alms races after lemans. and then probably get another season out of it in 03. better yet, sell the car now so we can see whoever buys it do the full season and lemans. im sure he could buy the team goh dome/judd off them

speaking of which, they too are planing on using their r8s in the alms, right?
