Who's making the trip to Castle Combe for the Powertour meeting in just over 2 weeks time?

I will be there as usual, providing nothing happens to my regular driver when he makes the trip to Le Mans!

I'll be there, its going to be a kind of after a-levels celebration, coupled with the British Superbikes at Thruxton the weekend after.

I'll only be there on raceday, however.

Nope, sorry, I decided to give that one a miss so that I could go to see Chris Y race at Brands in the Mighty Minis - wonderful series!

Hmm, unfortunately - this clashes with the Mighty Minis, and at Brands Hatch too...

One thing is that the Mightys are on the Saturday it seems, leaving Sunday free - but we'll probably not be going to Combe - I need a day off!

Porsche Cup to miss Castle Combe

The Michelin Porsche Cup will not be included in the Castle Combe PowerTour event over the weekend
of June 23/24. The limited availability of testing at the Wiltshire venue meant that the Motorsport
Division of the Porsche Club Great Britain, in full accord with the PowerTour organisers, came to
this decision.

The Michelin Porsche Cup will resume its normal slot within PowerTour for all remaining events this
season, but will now be contested over 12 rounds rather than 13. A replacement event will not be
substituted.

"This is purely a logistical matter," explained Robert Fearnall of British Motorsport Promoters.
"The Porsche Cup is a significant element of PowerTour and will be back as normal at all remaining
events this season."

The Castle Combe event will feature the Green Flag British F3 and Privilege Insurance British GT
Championships, as well as the Findus TVR Tuscan Challenge, the Slick 50 Formula Ford Zetec
Championship and the Ford Credit Fiesta Zetec-S Championship. Guest races for the weekend will be
the National Mobile Windscreens Castle Combe Formula Ford 1600 and Castle Combe Saloon Car
Championships.

That's interesting.. they only get one testing day - 21/06/01. Is that a loss?? Although the rest of the day looks pretty good..

Word is I'll be at Folly on the Sat... then Quarry In on the Sunday. That should keep me on my toes I guess..

See you there..

I'll hopefully be at the same locations as Dan, as for the loss of the Porsche's, couldn't we have got rid of the Fiasco's instead? Looking forward to the first laps on Sunday though and will we set a new record fpor number of marshals at Folly?

As I said, the timetable was subject to change. The calendar on the site still includes the Porsches, and I can find no mention of their withdrawal. Craig, where did you find out about this?

The calendar, still as above, is at http://www.powertour.co.uk/events/ttable_010623.htm

Official press release, so it *is* correct. Unless they change their mind again...

The website probably hasn't been updated as they've sacked their PR company in a bid to cut costs and in preparation of the disbanding of the package.

OK - looking at the website results are a little behind, this would fit in with what you've said Craig. Thanks for pointing that out!

Lister Storm was down to 1m 03 sec in testing - that's lap record speed.. 160 mph at one point.

Well looking forward to it. Although gutted I can't make testing on Thursday.

Schedule looks packed as well.
