Of course it's on but what is there to comment on - any comments would just be guesses at predictions of results. Once they're on track and actual things start to happen, there may be more commenting (or not).

It's the lull before the storm.

To be honest, there's little to no uncertaintities coming into this season. Drivers are signed, cars are ready... all the Ts are crossed, as are most of the lower case Js.

Pretty sure Stanaway's sponsor will be MEGA despite PRAs supposed difficulties with them last year. Will be interesting to see the crowd this weekend , last year was down considerably on earlier years. One of Mr Warburton's failures was not managing to lower track admission prices.

Is the Advertiser Adelaide's main newspaper?

If so, well done.

From memory I think that the Advertiser is Adelaide's only newspaper (other than suburban stuff of course).

His sister is the media person for MSR, and a combination of connection and a good story to write about from Mr Hazelwood clearly seems to make promoting him an attractive proposition.

Note the newspaper didn’t choose past Adelaide 500 winner Mr Percat, or fellow Adeladeians Mr Pye or Mr Slade for the cover...

Better to have a good news motorsport story on the front page, than the usual sex drugs AFL boofhead footballer piffle dribble.

A lot better than the Barnaby Joyce sex scandal with my female staffer taking up pages!

A mate did make a comment yesterday that the Supercars seem to be b,e keeping a low profile on promoting themselves this year- we finally get a article in our local cocky cage liner on Scott McLaughin and Adelaide today!

A field of 15 for the Audi Sport R8 LMS Cup, including 5 local entrants. How exciting.

5 years since I came down as a flaggie for this. I genuinely hope it goes off without major incident (turn 3, I'm looking at you!) and that everyone - teams, spectators, volunteers - have a cracker of a weekend.

I'm not remotely jealous*

Bit of a surprise only 9 overseas entries appear with nearly half the field made of Aussies who probably wouldve entered AGT had there been an AGT round. How will the internationals fare with Turn Eight one wonders.

Great to see Hazelwood on the front cover of the Advertiser btw

back in November when it was announced, we were told 10 Aussie entries had already signed up

Bit underwhelming. lets hope the racing is good and we dont spend too much time under safety car

They are also a sponsor of the event, hence the coverage. Not an indication of actual newsworthiness (not that anything in a junk Murdoch tabloid ever is).

I think only the haters are talking about the paper

the fans are talking about it being Todd the rookie on the front and not one of the big names

Its normal to have v8s on the the front of adelaide papers a this time of the year, Its big news in Adelaide

It doesn't escape the underlying problem of motor racing being old-fashioned that plagues both Supercars and Formula One...

Given the above, are there any big names any more? Maybe Brock was the last...

Go down King William St or Rundle Mall and ask 10 people "who is Jamie Whincup" and I suspect you will receive 9 out of 10 blank stares.

I dont read papers either because for the most part they're like a hard copy version of the cesspool that is news.com.au (I cant remember the last time I picked up a newspaper) but its great to have the category on the front page of any paper these days. Its just good to have the mainstream exposure and even better that its an up and coming rookie like Hazelwood.
