Why sad? Okay no big names as Busch and Villeneuve last year, but it's a good field I think.

Thin field, although it is to be expected with the irl 500. All it takes is one person comprehesively binning it in practice and there's no full field. Then again, according to Tony George, 33 is just a number..

It still amazing they have been able to field
33 cars this long. The drama of 3 or 4 at
bump day is gone but when the green flag
drops ........ all is well.

Townsend Bell is missing from this list but should be on it. He reportedly has sponsorship for a one-off at Indy again this year.

Do you have a link to racer.com report because I couldn't find anything about the 2015 entry list on their site and with regards to other media, there's nothing on the IndyCar website except the date?

There are many articles on racer.com with some news on Indy 500. In this article he's talking a lot about the Indy 500 field:

Probably is summary of multiple articles that mention drivers/teams possible plans for Indy 500 and the year - rather than a specific Racer article solely about an Indy 500 entry list.

I dont understand why some people are so hung up on links or sources for this thread - when in other situations they are more than happy to go along with pure speculation, conjecture & self serving posts.

It's just a tad early to ''speculate'' about the 500, when the season hasn't yet started, so I think some verification is warranted, otherwise it's meaningless.

It's simple. We ask for the facts. If the facts are unforthcoming, as sometimes they are, we open a frank conversation and try to tease this stuff out in anticipation of the facts emerging. That's the way I like it. Always a few grumps around who get annoyed we don't spend time hosing down the series with treacle or something. Well, that's never been my style.

Formulahistory has, i assume, started this thread to get some discussion going about the makeup of the 33 come race time in May. I'm not sure why this member is being given a hard time, they have just produced what they think the lineup might be as a starting point for the thread, and i presume they want us to join in the discussion.

Or should we just wait until the 33 seats are filled (which might not be till Pole weekend) before we start discussing it all?

It's surely never to early to start speculating on the biggest event on the calendar?

Now, on topic. Are the likes of Busch or Villeneuve expected to land anywhere this year?

As one of the Mods on this section of 10 - Tenths, he's perfectly entitled to start the thread, or any thread for that matter, as long as it's relevant. All that's being asked is to initially provide some verification with regards to the information bing posted, e.g. a link or a quote.

Cheers.

Sorry folks, but you have to scratch one car off of the list. Team owner Bryan Herta has come out and said that the proposed sponsor of the #97 car has not paid. Hence, Jay Howard's deal has fallen through. That's a shame because, according to pictures from the sponsor presentation months ago, this would have been one of the best looking cars at the event. I'm not going to show a picture here, though. So Bryan Herta Autosport is going to be a single-car team for the whole season.

I won't miss Jay Howard, but I think it will be difficult times for Herta in future. It's a shame that many teams had to withdraw in the past year and we will more teams loose in the future I think. It's the time for Penske, Ganassi and Andretti getting bigger and bigger, but teams like Herta, Coyne are really struggling.
