Hi All,

Latest photos.

These were taken this morning, the car was off to the sign shop to have signs finished and will be on display all this weekend at a large Classic and Historic race meeting here in Christchurch. I will update with more photos next week.

Cheers,

Gary.

I had a chat with a friend of mine who lived & raced in Indonesia & was a friend of Ian Gray. He told me the last he knew of Ian`s Escort it was abandoned in a field with a tree growing through the engine bay. He also said that it was somewhere near Sha Alam circuit & during a race meeting there two Australian mechanics were taken to where the car was & they took the front suspenion off of it. Not sure when this was.
He also told me that Ian now lives in the USA but his old mechanic is alive & well in Australia. Can get a contact if it would help.

Welcome to one of the best threads on ten-tenths.com

Could you perhaps tell me who on earth now owns a Hezemans escort? I've done quite a bit of research on Crazy Heze's GRAB built car and even spoke to the the first owner after Hezemans and the last owner who brought the car to Trinidad & Tobago, raced it and subsequently crashed it beyond repair. So my question how can it be alive and kicking again??

(btw. I always thought there might be a second car built, but until now I couldn't 'prove' it, could it be this is the car you're talking about?)

Let us know, I'm sure we're all just as keen to know..

The car is currently owned by Ad den Teuling from Oosterhout the Netherlands.Ad is a well known tuner with a small private collection race cars. The ex Hezemans escort is mentioned on his website www.teulingtuning.com

a friend of mine saw the car a few years ago in Teulings workshop, saying it wasn't in a very good state at the time.

I never actually saw the car myself, that's why i'm planning a visit.

Gerard, thanks a lot for that information! Very interesting, I think I will do the same and visit his workshop/museum.

Btw, Mr den Teuling seems to have raced another one of my favourite cars; a Falcon-MG!

Hi DH,

Good to hear that another escort from this amazing era is still around, can't wait to see some photos.

Alex E,

the info you mention about some of the history regarding my car during it's time in Malaysia is great. if you could get in touch or give me info to make contact with this gut in Australia I would be most grateful.

Cheers,

Gary.

DH,

I am sure this is a car that was for sale on Ebay some years ago, it had a 6 cyl BMW engine, space frame.

Zakspeed copy!

Another Swedish Zakspeedish car : http://www.autodb.no/cgi-bin/car/detail.pl?nr=2094324

The wings (apart from the front wing) do look genuine though, I mean, the colours are exactly the same as the D&W liveried Escorts.

Kurtiejjj, regarding your two recent posts:

Yes, the #304 black race car is the former Preben Jessen BMW M1 engined home build, while the second link is an add for the wing and spoiler set only.

Hi All,

JD, Great clipping you found, this is another part of the puzzle. Thanks.

I am quite sure that this is not my car as I know that my car was in Malaysia at this period of time. However I do have photos of this car somewhere, it shows the car with Channel 9 sponsorship and the driver was shown as Mike Meetam??

I am not totally sure that my car was ever in aussie, as I have no hard evedance to back this up only the odd photo. The photo of Ian Gray's car eariler in this thread looks like a real Zakspeed and as I have said, Ian's name comes up as a driver of my car.

When I was in Hong Kong and Malaysia recently I was told by one of the old owner/drivers of my car that 2 cars were built up locally to Gp 2 specs in Hong Kong, using my car as the example, not sure of the engine choice.

If you look at the photo in the ad, you can see that the car is a mix of Gp 2 and Gp 5 specs as it shows a Gp 5 front splitter assy and it shows Gp 2 body kit.

I will add photos as I find them.

Cheers,

Gary.

can anyone help me

I purchased a car that no one seems to be able to know anything about. Apparently raced here in Australia for a couple of races then was bought buy a number of people who did their little bit here and there and i've ended up with a car that is a bit of a bitza. The car is left hand drive and according to different people i have talked to, no left hand drive escorts have ever raced in Australia according to the people i have spoken to. I have original Zakspeed F/G panels ( or replica's) but it has an RS2000 front and the F/G panels have been shaped in towards the doors to suit Australian Sports Sedan rules. Any help appreciated. Im trying to upload some photos.......
