FunCup series & Saker Challenge 2011 - Calendars added

Things have changed a bit this year.
FunCup is now officially a Chamionship series

Fun Cup Gets Championship Status

The MSA Control Panel has granted outline championship status to the Fun Cup for 2011, with the BRSCC as the organising club holding the permit.

The Fun Cup was launched in Europe 13 years ago and first came to the UK in 2002. Since its inception it has proved to be a very successful form of endurance racing and has introduced many new drivers into motorsport.

Paul Rose, Series Director, said: “We are delighted to announce that we will be running as a championship in 2011. Fun Cup is the strongest it has ever been, with big grids at every race and strong competition guaranteed at each round. Changing to a championship will hopefully result in even more cars committing to a full season, therefore giving us even bigger grids than we have already. It will, of course, also allow us to celebrate the overall winners at the end of the season. We would also like to take this opportunity to welcome the new teams that will be taking part in the Fun Cup Championship next year.”

BRSCC Competitions Director Drew Furlong added “The BRSCC has a long association with Fun Cup so we are delighted to welcome the series into our championship portfolio. We ran the recent Finals event at Donington Park which attracted an entry of 66 cars and some 200 plus drivers so the concept clearly has the numbers to justify championship status”
.

But it will now be able to run with other series at the same meeting.
we have occassionally done that in the past but it was mainly we would have the place to ourselves on Saturday and the other clubbies would just do a bit of testing and prep on Saturdays and then run on sundays once we had packed up and gone... now its going to be a "touring car" like package where the Funcup cars are the main events and other smaller series will tag along and fill in the spaces, thus each race is slightly shorter but we will now be doing two day double headers.. For both series we will be practice and racing on Saturday and also racing on sunday!

Also added to that the Saker challenge (also organised by funcup series director JPR Motorsports) will be running with us, the team im on have provisionally got two cars to run so its going to be very interesting juggling the two...
Have a look at them... theres been one at most races this year and drivers have been out playing in them, up to now there are about 8 or 9 cars sold but theres the promise of more to come, also some of the dutch guys want to bring their cars over too..
