Quite. I've been told by the office that the members list on the web site will be updated at the end of March.

As expected the thread relating to a well known Bentley restorer has been deleted from the 'other place'.

Yes - I wondered why the site was down for a while
indeed I was suprised it went on as long as it did with the active moderation

I've snipped a few posts from this thread at the original posters' requests. (Not outside pressure, I hasten to add) Effectively, if the topic that inspired them has gone from the VSCC forum, perhaps they had become superfluous?

Inevitably a couple of posts were left floating adrift after that, so they went to keep things flowing. Apologies for that.

TTFN

Why don't I fit in 12/50 Alvii? Am I being discriminated against?

Duncan, I don't believe you! If I can get in an A7 you can get in a 12/50. You are smaller than me, the photographs proove it, or were you holding some thing in?

Andy it's true: Last year I offered Duncan a go in my 12/50 Beetle back and he couldn't get behind the wheel.
Admittedly I have a 18" steering wheel, but even so there is not much space in there
Perhaps a tourer body would work, or a saloon? (I know of one for sale but I have been strictly told we don't have the space and cannot afford it

Duncan don't give up on the 12/50 - they have many different body styles, and even fits, I find I can get in Beatlebacks - not tried Kevin's but I found that a (ex Pres) Duckback has a completely different (lower) seating position - perhaps a word with eclectic. The dulue tourer sold on ebay last week should have a movable front seat and Alvis did a wide two seater body similar to the one on your Nine. Also some owners alter the floorboards so that one can get from the throttle to the brake in a hurry with size 12s. I wouldn't recommend a Sports Saloon, I have sat in Steve's in Ledbury - very low roof and as you have to slide over from NSF - not recommended.

But Duncan won't you get burnt at the stake by the Blue Diamond lot for even considering defecting across town?

Not sure if we're taking the 12/50 to your LCES event - may borrow a parental sunbeam - altough I find the down and left 4th of their syncro box uncomfortable. Could be at Colerne if you want a fitting. - Suit you sir.

Anyway if you don't fit my 12/50 you want have a prayer with a Nash. Still working out what shoes I need to drive my brother's safely - and how to move the seat back.

Anyway perhaps it's not discrimination, but God's way of saying you should be in a 30/98....

Yes, my particular 12/50 is a tight fit compared to most, however they are an excellent all round car.

As for a 30/98 - a long legged thing of beauty you can drive anywhere in and do anything with. Nice

Do you know for a fact that it was sold.

Some of us suspect that it wasn't

The point was more about the seating arrangement.

Is this the car advertised in the current 12/50 register circular I wonder?

I take your point absolutely.

I was just wondering if you had any 'inside' information.

I (and others) are well aware of what Ebay says. It's just that things are not always what they seem!!!

Thanks for the kind thoughts. I am not intending deserting one side of Coventry for the other, but it'd be nice to know what I'm missing.

As for Luton, I'm a committed Cricklewood man ....

Duncan

PS The car in the picture looks to have had suitable mods - steering wheel raked up and the seat back a long way back. Most cars can be modified to let the larger person in - after all I can (just) fit in Dad's Imp!
