Hi guys, you certainly provided some excellent racing (or not) and provided some great entertainment. I hoped to get round the paddock during the lunch breaks but a certain melee between Lotii and the armco put made to Saturday and Sunday lunch was just too short. I tried looking for you before qualifying started for the day(s) but I guess most of you were inspecting the insides of your eyelids.!!!
I was flagging at Graeme Hill bend with Bacon Sandwich and many thanks to virtually all of you who gave us a wave on your slowing down laps. We didn't appreciate the present of several sumpfulls of oil though, you could have taken the dirty stuff home!! By the way JohnW is now a fully qualified road sweeper, I think he expects more championship points for that. (No chance, it wasn't cold or windy enough). |

Slowcoach, always a bit late knowing the day after but I could have gone and got a spare belt from home, 20 minutes away or may even been able to borrow a set out of ecktics XK150. where were you in the paddock?

Ian, I was with my uncle who was racing the Lotus Escort in the classic thunder. He had his day ruined by the plonker who misjudged the width of the pit straight and took him out on the last lap.

Thanks falcemob, it wasn't too bad a journey really just along the A13 into Essex, and as I knew he defintely had one and where it was, I decided to go for it straight away rather than wandering round the paddock with my begging bowl. Really sorry to here about the Escort, I had been admiring it earlier in the paddock (I have a real soft spot for them) is it a genuine twincam or one that has been bulit up? how bad was the damage ?

It's a genuine twin cam originally built as a rally car straight from the factory.
Apart from o/s front and n/s rear wing (forced into armco) it has snapped the steering rack and bent the track control arm, not sure yet if there is anything more damaged. |

Since you brought it up zefarelly, I thought I`d share this sequence of the ill-fated A40....... (have really down-sized these quite heavily so they load up quicker so apologies for the quality).....

Popped down Sat to watch some racing; saw the A40 fall over.
Sunday - scrutineering lasted about 2 mins, does this reflect on a good standard of preparation or the fact that it is a pumpy-uppy Citroen with strange suspension units. Qualy was a bit slow for first few laps but began to get into the groove only for the hydraulic pump thingy to stop working. Now when that stops working so does everything connected to it, ie steering, suspension and b-r-a-k-e-s. Explains why there was a loss of power and why the car was worse in the handling department than usual. So approaching Paddock, push middle pedal, rock solid, steering vague, down to 3rd, phew!. !"£$!, Mazda decides to pull in front and test its braking prowess, move right and then left as the Mazda decides to warm its tyres on lap 9. Race was better, actually forming up was good as I found myself not 29th and last but 29th and penultimate pilot.(See above). Soon got to front of class and tentatively pushed it a bit harder for a couple of laps trying to find the braking points and the grippier bits of tarmac. The 63.8 qualy time was whittled down to 59.1 as the BX closed in on Falcemob's uncle Eric. Red flag, class win, fastest lap and new lap record for class F. Sad to see damage to a few cars, this is not the norm and let's hope it does not continue at Oulton. |

Well done Gary, there was a bit of disbelief and mirth from some on our post at a BX racing especially during your obvious problem during qualifying. I was concerned that your engine problems had reappeared. The race was an excellent one from start to finish and from front to "trying as hard as I can" further down the field.

Elio
great shotes . . . I was nose to tail with him until I pulled out, both racing for 9th place, In retrospec I'm happier with a cooked clutch than getting caught by a disco dancing A40 that looks like an A frame on the rear suspension . . .is that standard ??????? |

The dancing A40 came to rest at my post and thankfully the driver was fine. Great weekend all and like Ian, sorry I didn't get around to meet a few fellow Ten-Tenthers but Lotus track displays meant someone had to stay on post
Falcemob, many thanks for the donuts on Sunday, they went down a treat!!! Peter (Mallett) shame you couldn't get home for the meeting, as always virtually full grids and some fabulous racing. The Mini se7en race on Saturday was one of the best races I've seen for years. |
