It seems a manufacturer just has to nominate a "team" and they are part of a "series", which to me doesn't really make it a series.

The 12hr has used the SRO Balance of Performance regulations since 2012/13ish if i remember correctly

Yeah, but wasn't it always the BoP sheet from the previous year? This is the main issue that might mean brand-new cars have to wait a full year before being admitted into the 12 Hour.

I think you may be thinking of one silver Lamborghini that found a bit of a loophole knowing their Class B spec car would be faster than in class A trim

They use the previous years BOP because only cars from the preceeding year are allowed to enter the race

My reading is that there are only two current GT4 cars which is not enough for a category (Min of 3) hopefully some more will turn up

Side note, the announcement that it is part of a new international category, at least this year, means the 12 hour is now an international event for more than marketing purposes

There is no way they will tell an international entry to not bother coming.

Also I thought the minimum of 3 was just for the invitational class?

I believe you need 3 entries in order to have a dedicated class - if it remains at 2 (which I highly doubt) the entries would be included in an invitational class.

I would have thought GT4 would stay as a class even with only 2 entries, as the "GT" element is the focus of the event?

I'd have thought a Lotus or two might find its way into the GT4 entry as in previous years, maybe the Donut King GTR to return as well?

your intepretation of the rules is correct

Im doubtful we will get 3, No big deal. GT4 is class with minimal support only 3 cars last year. A matter of time before it disappears

Will have minimal, if any, effect on the race
