IL LEONE should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid

The 250 lusso is a gorgeous looking car. I suppose it comes down to everyones own opinion on what aesthetic beauty is. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder so they say.
Must be, company car apart I am a complete aircooled fan and drive and old beetle, which is my pride and joy. Come to think I am suprised no one has mentioned the 356 speedster or the type 34 ghia razoredge (a potential next buy).
Apart from that it's nice to be in the company of people with good taste in motors, some nice cars mentioned in this thread.

Yes, the 250 GT Lusso is indeed a beauty. Some months ago for my own pleasure I made a list of what I thought were the most beautiful cars. I probably wouldn't change it much and paste the first 20 below:-

1962 Ferrari 250 GTO
1961 Jaguar E-Type FHC
2003 Aston DB 7 GT
1961 Aston DB4 GT Zag.
1966 Jaguar XJ 13
2003 TVR T350C
1955 Aston DB3S Coupe
1971 Ferrari 365 GTC4
1946 Delahaye 145 (Chapron Coupe))
1938 Alfa 2900B Lungo
2005 Aston V8 Vantage
1937 Bugatti T57 SC Atlantic
1938 Talbot Lago 23 CV (Saoutchik Coupe)
2003 Nissan 350C
1947 Healey Elliot Saloon
1936 Aston MkII Saloon
1963 Ferrari 250 GT Lusso

Heres another favourite that hasn't cropped up: -

The Ford GT40.

I also have a soft spot for the Porsche 917

Lancia Stratos

Agree DS are nice but prefer the Detomaso MANGUSTA

OTHER MANGUSTA

Any American cars out there that warrant the tag beautiful?

Come on John, which of those don't you think should be on the list (and don't say all of them!! - actually, I might be able to guess a couple!), and name a few of your favourite beauties (cars that is!).

All three are wonderful, but are they beatiful looking? Dramatic looking would be my description and although the GT40 and Stratos were (marginally!) road cars, the 917 wasn't (although I believe one person tried to turn it into one!)

Il Leone - definitely agree on the Mangusta, I saw one in the flesh for the first (& only) time this year and it wasn't until I got over the surprise that I realised there was another Mangusta beside it! With ~400 built you can imagine how many there are in Australia.

Beautiful American cars - some I would nominate as beautiful although not "the" most beautiful are
Buick Riviera

C2 Corvette roadster (especially in a light-coloured metallic paint) The Sting Ray coupe version wasn't bad either!

Studebaker Golden Hawk

Absolutely no criticism intended John, but I wouldn't aspire to the TVR, Nissan, 05 Aston or Healey Tickford. The Zagato Aston and Bugatti are to die for methinks.

Fair enough, it's all subjective fun, isn't it! I half expected you to pick 3 of those out, but not the Aston.

There were several different bodies on the Healey chassis, most of them less than attractive. Just for clarification, the Healey, I listed was not the Tickford version but the Elliot bodied saloon, and very specifically the version where the headlamps had been moved to the more coventional place in the front wings.

Actually, I was wrong about when I made my list, it was back in 2003, when the V8 vantage had just been announced (I think then it may even have been referred to as the DB8), and the Nissan actually became the 350Z, so I would probably make one or two changes, now. However, just to be contentious, I'll now add nos 21-40 on my list!

1999 TVR Tuscan 6
1989 Porsce 944 S2
1990 BMW 850 CSI
1966 Toyota 2000 GT (coupe)
1937 Bugatti T57 SC Corsica
1961 Aston DB4 GT
1957 AC Aceca
1964 Porsche 904 GTS
1934 Hillman 9hp Aero Minx Streamline Saloon
1935 Hispano-Suiza V12 (Saoutchik)
1932 Bugatti T55 Coupe
1961 Alfa Romeo Guilietta SZ Zagato
1965 Ginetta G10 Coupe
1947 Bristol 400
1959 BMW 507 Hardtop
1950 Frazer Nash Mille Miglia
1967 WSM MGB GT
1937 Talbot Lago T150C Super Sport (Figoni & Falaschi)
1994 Mazda Xedos 6

I know everyone will look askance at the last one, but I was trying to get away from the classics and pick what I thought was the best looking of the more recent 3 box saloons. The smooth clean, well proportioned lines of the Xedos 6 were an attractive contrast to other offerings (e.g Mondeo) of the time.

I am a little biased but I would say the Ferrari Dino.

Also the Muira.

Going back further would be the Maserati 300S and Aston DBR1.

In the modern era the DB9 is beautiful

Jolly nice. I'd love a 635. Reminds me of my baptism in early 80's - Stuck / Quester / Winklehock / Kelleners / Vojtech etc...

I, too, am fortunate to own an old 6 series, and it is the M version. Lovely car, great driving machine, incredibly quick for a 20 year old but amazingly frugal when cruising, considering its 286bhp. Not sure where I'd put it in the beauty stakes though. I think the earlier CS and CSI coupes were better looking.
