Folks, pleeeeease - keep this thread to the original question, can you?
If you want to rant about treatment by some organisations, start a new thread about it. This one is in respect of a positive suggestion which will hopefully become a positive offer. If it's made you feel negative then I apologise. |

I agree. This is a genuine offer from what sounds like one of the smaller teams. Although I probably won't be in a position to benefit from it myself I do appreciate it.
Why do some people always seem to want to turn things around and make it negative? If we aren't careful we will be seen as a bunch of whingers who just like to moan about everything. Don't bite the hand that feeds you (excuse the pun), and be grateful for what is offered. No-one has to offer us anything. Sometimes, people just like to be friendly and this is one of them. As for cost, I run the Oulton Park Curry Club at the GP and do a BBQ one night and a curry the next for about 30 people for £5 a head. That's buying things at shop rates, not cost prices. |

I can move some of this out to a "Costs of Marshalling" thread if people want to discuss this aspect further
Someone shout if it's worthy of more discussion... |

It's obviously something that there are strong feelings & opinions on, so a new thread is a good idea IMO.

Right ho, I've split some of the posts out, some were a mix of on topic and off so I've done what I think is best. If anyone is particularly unhappy with their post being moved/not moved then yell.
Please keep responses on topic in this thread and discuss the other stuff on the new thread http://tentenths.com/forum/showthread.php?t=126913 |

I *might* pay up to about 3 quid (assuming it was along the lines of burger and chips or a similar size meal) but not until I knew exactly what I was getting - i.e. I wouldn't be prepared to make an advance commitment. Sorry if people think this is negative, it's just an honest answer. |

I would happily pay the going rate for some noggin and natter. As I would normally bring my wife and kids too, it would be useful to know if the offer is extended to family as well?

To answer the question about family or friends coming with you: yes, that's fine.

Thanks Greem! That does make it easier than watching the wife & kids sat in the car salivating over watching me eat burgers!!

I'd gladly pay a fiver - saves me burning my own burgers on the camping stove, probably sat in the rain!

I gotta say, what is a fiver to a team who offer to do something for us... thanks to that team, im sure there are alot of people on here that will be willing to pay a fiver.
If you dont want to come to there offer then bring your own food... SIMPLE!! Thank you Sara for when you used to do the BBQ it was nice for us all to socialise on the campsite. |

It's not just the food, of course. As someone mentioned earlier, it's good to be able to socialise with the team, makes for good relations and the opportunity to better understand each other.

At present I am only able to come to the Thruxton meeting and I would certainly be willing to pay around a fiver as a contribution, more than that I'd have to think. |

Actually, rereading the original post I think we've got this wrong. I don't think it's 'we'll supply a hotpot, how much will you pay for it', but 'let us know what you're happy to pay and we'll supply enough food to make you happy.'

Greem, I'd happily pay a fiver for grub etc, I'll be camping at most BTCC rounds and think this is a great idea!

A little late to this thread, but yes, I would welcome the offer from this group. As for cost, well couple of quid would be great, but £5 would seem a sensible choice. It is often cheaper than other catering options - and I am not a great cook on a little camping stove.
Something as simple as a Jacket Spud with a shovel load of beans/cheese/chilli and a can of something would be great, and lets face it, can be kept cooking all season!! |

I'm late jumping in on this post, and while I am not doing any BTCC meets, I think this is a fab idea!
From experience of camping (as a spectator) last year at Britcar (urgh the weather ) I think Matt and I would be more than happy to pay £5-7 each for some proper food (seeing as £5-7 at Silverstone currently gets you a small burger only from one of the catering vans). And if it happens to have a covered area where you can escape the elements and have a natter with likeminded people (whether marshals and/or teams) then that would be very cool with us! |

I would be happy with that idea In the grand scheme of things £5-7 isn't a massive amount. As Steph mentioned and as I'm sure many of us know, the food at circuits isn't exactly cheap!
It was at Britcar when I met up with a well known works Aston Martin driver who described the burgers as bloody expensive! Now if he's saying that.... |

I think this is a great idea and a generous offer from the team behind the idea. As I will be attending around 4 rounds of the BTCC this year, it will be something I would be sure to make use of! If the team are able to provide food for less than a fiver then great, but I'd be happy paying up to a fiver for some food and drink and a bit of banter
