Has to go round the other way, real world testing validates the CFD, and you can't possibly compare real world results to CFD in that way.

It is a useful tool, not a magic bullet.

GRM (with help from Boeing) believe they've addressed the splitter issues on ZB but won't know for sure till they hit the track at Adelaide: solution splitter

Worrying stuff considering that P1 is now essentially a test session and if it goes pear shaped I don't imagine it being a quick fix.

Super Tourers (the original ones) had the right idea. OEM bumper, with the bottom 1/3 trimmed off to accomodate a rigid-mounted splitter/undertray/ducting assembly. Most of the later ones were modular by design, whereby you could just replace what broke.

Much like Audi does these days with the current GT3-spec R8 LMS.

I do wonder how all these ZB panels are going to cope in incidents. Are they only carbon or is there kevlar in there to allow them to handle damage better?

The front splitter protrudes quite a bit, be interesting to see how they go with a bit of nose to tail rubbing, I guess SVG and Lowndes will answer that question pretty early on.

Volvo's was bigger and no issue. Nissan's is apparently similar too
