But surely Ant would learn more racing for a team like Red Bull for a season then another year of testing.
He has been quoted as saying "i think i have learned everything there is to learn out of testing". I really cant see the harm in BAR lending him to Red Bull for a seasons experience... unless they have technological secrets that ant knows about about and if he leaves, it might be of advantage to Red Bull. I could see them not letting him drive for Williams for the "Knowing of technology" reason, as BAR and Williams are close rivals. It is unlikely Red Bull are going to be challenging BAR, so i would have thought that Ant would be allowed to take a drive with them. |

Sorry, I have little sympathy when there are many other capable test drivers out there who deserve a drive. Davidson has a big PR blitz behind him which will probably secure him a drive next year. He obviously has a very restrictive contract with Honda, which up to this point has done him no harm at all, and built his reputation. So tough luck mate...get in the car, get testing and stop moaning! Yet another thread becomes an AD thread...I apologise for contributing to it.. |

This was probably the only contract he had on offer - bear in mind that he was in F3 with a Honda-backed team and Sato as team-mate. A lot of guys who've been successful in British F3 have failed to get any F1 chance at all - Mark Hynes, Robbie Kerr and James Courtney for example, and Ant certainly has a better chance than any of those of challenging to win F1 races in future, although it must be frustrating at present.

Wurz has been linked with Red Bull - as a coincidence his test role at McLaren looks to be compromised by the fact he can't fit into the new car.......

Maybe they're defining Klien as an experienced driver, as he's done a year in F1? Wurz getting the drive would be interesting, especially as that may lean them towards Liuzzi rather than Klien for the second car.

There's always lots of PR talk and speculation - but it's pretty certain David Coulthard will be racing for Red Bull.

It seems RBR have offered DC a performance related deal.
It is understood he will be paid a standard wage, believed to be in excess of £2 million, with him then perhaps earning up to £100,000 per point scored during the 2005 campaign The contract is believed to be only for one-year, leaving Red Bull Racing owner Dietrich Mateschitz the option of drafting in a pair of young drivers in 2006 if he feels that is the best way forward for the team. Although Coulthard's confirmation is expected imminently, the team is set to hold back on its decision on who his team-mate will be for a few more days. Good news for everyone really - DC is bound to do well, and hopefully the car will be reliable enough for points to be scored along the way. £100,000 is a fraction of what Red Bull would get for each point in prize money, so it makes sense for them.

looks like Reuters is confirming the story ... good for DC, good for F1.
LONDON, Dec 17 (Reuters) - Briton David Coulthard has signed a one-year deal to drive for Red Bull Racing in 2005, a spokeswoman for the Formula One team said on Friday. She said Coulthard had signed the contract in Austria. The team's other driver would be decided in the New Year. |

Red Bull have confirmed the signing of David Coulthard.
The Scot has agreed a one-year deal with the outfit. Coulthard told Austrian news agency APA: "After speaking to team owner Dietrich Mateschitz I was impressed by Red Bull Racing's plans for the future. This is definitely an exciting new team." http://www.itv-f1.com/News_Article.aspx?PO_ID=31781 |
