IndyCar Driver Paul Dana Dies in Crash
30-year-old IndyCar driver Paul Dana died after crashing during a practice race Sunday morning at Homestead-Miami Speedway in Florida. The crash happened shortly after the race started when driver Ed Carpenter spun into turn two. Dana ran into the wreckage when Carpenter slid down the bank. "On behalf of all of our team, our prayers and sympathies go out to Paul, his wife Tonya and the whole Dana family," said team co-owner Bobby Rahal. Dana graduated from Northwestern University with a degree in journalism and had a love of racing. After much effort, Dana competed in the Infiniti Pro Series in 2003, gathering six top 10s in 10 starts. In 2004, he placed second in the Infiniti point standings. In 2005, he had three starts in the IndyCar Series while earning one top 10. A back injury from a crash in a practice race during the Indianapolis 500 ended his season. Sunday was his return to the IndyCar Series. i wont post the video |
