Fuji F1 1974
I've recently read Johnny Tipler's Ronnie Peterson biography, and in the race record at the back it mentions Ronnie's fastest lap in a non-championship race at Fuji in December 1974.
There is no mention of this event in Chris Ellard's 'Forgotten Races', and a google search didn't help either. I'm assuming this was a demo of some sort rather than an actual race, but can anyone help with info. ie. who else was there, what was the reason for them being there etc.? |

According to Toyota, in 1974 there was a ā1974 World Winners F1 Demonstration.ā
This was held on November 24th. I shall dig further. The first GP in Japan was in 1976. |

It was a 20-lap demonstration. As well as Peterson in a Lotus 72 others who took part were: Carlos Reutemann (Brabham BT44), Patrick Depaillier (Tyrrell), James Hunt (Hesketh) and Emerson Fittipaldi (McLaren M23). Peterson "won" the race after a couple of pit stops.
