Britcar MSA British Endurance Championship 2012.

With the GT3 Racing Dodge Viper squad which won last year's championship off to the Blancpain Endurance Series this year's title seems to be pretty open, if the front runners are the same as last years we should end up with Azteca Mosler VS MJC Ferrari VS Eclipse Motorsports Ferrari & the Rapier SR6 & Aquila too, but as with all endurance racing... who knows!

The schedule for 2012 is;

24th March
Silverstone Grand Prix
180 Minutes

21st April
Donington Park 180 Minutes

12th May
Snetterton 300 180 Minutes

2nd June
Brands Hatch Indy
120 Minutes

23rd June
Oulton Park 180 Minutes

14th-15th July
Brands Hatch Grand Prix
120 Minutes

18th August
Snetterton 300
180 Minutes

2nd - 3rd November
Donington Park Night Race
180 Minutes

24th November
Brands Hatch Indy (non Championship)
180 Minutes

The 24HR race at Silverstone slots between the Snetterton round and the Donington Night Race, not sure of a date yet.

The Britcar 24hr is pencilled in for 21-23 September,
Britcar are waiting for a parish council meeting at Whittlebury on the 19 January before they can make any plans/announcements ..

In the Regulations for BEC this year it mentions PRE-2006 LMP2/LMP675 & Grand-AM cars are allowed in LMPX, which is a part of Class 1. Are there any such cars in the UK and is it possible we will get some this year?

Also does anyone know of any possible new entrants this year? I wonder if the Stealth B6 for sale in Autosport end up on the Britcar grid tis year as it can also race in LMPX.

Over on pistonheads there is a thread covering the re-build of a Norma LMP675.I don't know if theres any possibility of that appearing in the future.
IIRC I think prototype cars will be very heavily restricted though.

Yeah on the regs it says that a 1200KG car could only have like 463 BHP and an 800KG could have roughly 300 if I remember correctly.

Does anyone know how to get tickets for the Silverstone round next month? The link on the Britcar site dosen't work and it isn't listed on the Silverstone site.

Either call the circuit or turn up and pay on the gate I'd guess.

Currently 22 in the GT's and 27 in the Production Cup. I'm sure the full lists will appear on the Britcar site in the next day or two.

Cheers Andy,
Does any one know if the Brands Indy race (2nd-3rd June) is on Saturday, I didn't think it would be?

Any ideas on the fate of the Aquila? I saw it for sale the other week in Autosport.

I would say quali Sat race Sun. Not sure on fate of the Aquila but some people advertise just to test the water. I do know of another one in existence that may appear sometime this year powered by a BMW M5 engine this is more likely to appear in OSS though.

Currently the British Endurance and Britcar Production will qualify and race on the Saturday (going by the published provisional timetable)

Fair enough, I doubt it will stay like that though considering that MSV have it down as 'BARC MSA British Endurance Championship', surely you can't have the title race on saaturday?

There is no reason why such an occurance won't take place (although timetables are prone to change of course...). Ultimately, the timetable is the responsibility of BARC and as such MSV would not have any imput. However, MSV does chose how they decide to market the event and can use pretty much any title they wish. Having the 'title' race on the Saturday is not without precedent; the same thing happens at the BEC meeting at Donington, whilst at a higher level LMES races have taken place on the second of a three day meeting in the past.

After what happened at the 24hr*, I think they realised that they couldn't run the Ferrari to a proper standard with the required silencing.

*Manifold cracked due to being hit up the chuff & having the oversized silencing exhaust pushed into the engine.

Provisional event timetable is available on the BARC HQ website (and has been for at least a week). BRITCAR events are all scheduled for the Saturday only.

Thinking about it seems this is the way it's going to be this year. Silverstone is on Saturday and there's racing Sunday as well so maybe more races will be Saturday this year.
