nigel smith
whatever happened to nigel smith after the 95 season when he last raced as an independant in the btcc i have heard of nothing, where is he now? can anyone help:confused:

His son Martyn did FPA in 1999 I think, I only remember the name as its one letter away from mine. Can't help you as for Nigel though.

I know he also raced his BTCC Cavalier in a couple of rounds of both the Swedish and North American touring car series during 1996, but I'm not sure what he's done since.
I think his son Martyn had begun racing Formula Fordaround that time (I'm sure I remeber him in Formula Palmer Audi in 1998), so he may have retired from driving to concentrate on supporting his son's career. Anyone able to help more? There's also a Nigel Smith who has raced Porsches in the FIA GT series in the last few years, but I don't think they're one and the same...... I've made that mistake before, it's a different person. Used to race Caterhams, obviously now moved onto GTs.
Last I heard of the 'Touring Car' Nigel Smith was he was helping his son move into single seaters, but that was some years ago. I believe he has retired from racing. |

He was running a Formula Renault Eurocup team for 2 of his sons in 2001. Haven't heard much since.
