At least one Lola B08/80 has been sold before Le Mans, to an anonymous client. But then again, its a LMP2 car, so it cant be to Cytosport?

BK Motorsports seems to be the odds-on favourite for the American-bound P2 Lola coupe in the rumour mill. The bear's latest prognostications mentioned that the switch could even come before 2009, to help contribute to the increased performance provided by engine improvements and the tyre swap to Dunlops.
Furthermore, the Lola deal was reported while Cytosport was still saying they were purchasing the ex-Charouz car. |

Mariantic says Mazda has confirmed the Lola B08/80 to BK by PLM, maybe sooner?

I wonder who will break McNish's pole record from last year, and by how much-the R10s seem to be much improved from even last year. Also, I wonder if the LMP2 record from last year will fall-it seems like the extra 25kgs haven't crippled them to the point where chassis setup/tire improvements have saved track records.

Michelin's tires this year are a big leap from '07. With Porsche's extra oomph in P2 and Mazda's rocket engine aided by Dunlops, I think that if the weather remains friendly, we'll see lap records in all 4 classes.

But then again, the Corvettes didn't get anywhere near their track record at Mid Ohio.

There is an article on DSC about IMSA's intention to carry out regular inspections of fire equipment an protective clothing following the Mid Ohio fire.
The underlying tone suggests to me that there were some issues with the equipment being used or the way it was being used in the De Ferran pit which have led to worse burns than would have been expected for such a short fire. |

I suppose they have to be seen to do something in light of what happened ..... but it was a missunderstanding ..... that Pagenaud took off with the hose still attached .
What can you do about that apart from possibily attaching a steel lanyard to the refueling nozzle to the pit wall , so it cant be ripped from the rig . But that might becapitate someone ..... you cant make something murphy proof . |

I don't think the issue is concerning the cause of the accident, but the fact that severe burn injuries were sustained in spite of a fire control response that was as good as could have been asked for. Whether an accident (I would suggest poor teamwork) caused it or not, that is not of primary concern. Minimizing unnecessary injury after a fire, regardless of causation, is.

And, I agree with cmk that cause is not at issue. The object is to further minimize any injuries that might occur in such an incident. Badger, your concern about a lanyard becoming a garrote is valid I think! Maybe they could come up with a two valve filler head that has a rip away section between the two (some sort of tin sleeve with super light bolts?) so that only a cup or two of fuel would be released if the head remained stuck to the car. L.P. |

The cause may not be at issue in the bulletin, but as they say, "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure." Yes, it's good to be prepared when incidents happen, but it's even better to stop the ball rolling before the incident can occur. And hopefully, Gil has been drilling his crew to minimize any chance of another such incident.

If they could install a pressure sensor inside the line ..... if the fuel line broke the sensor could deactivate the fuel pump ?

Some changes to the list recently - we lose 1 VICI car as the Pastorellis partner Basseng for the long race in #18. Not on the list yet are Gregor Fisken joining the Lewis/Faulkner #30 car, and Rob Bell replacing the injured Freisacher in Risi's #61 alongside Harrison Brix. I wish IMSA would keep the list more up to date sometimes! |
