Reliant Sabre 6 works rally cars

Hello all

We are looking for any information on these (semi successful) works rally cars from the mid-60s.

We are in the midst of restoring one of them, and need any information on the interior, especially period timing equipment fitted.

Have of course tried all the usual sources - but if anyone has any personal memories or photos (quite happy to pay going rate for prints) be delighted to hear.

Only two of the three 'works' cars survive, and the history of them is quite well known from an originality point of view. The particular car we have for instance, sports it's original chassis, bodyshell and even engine block!

Any info gratefully received, thanks

DW

Welcome, Dave; it's surprising that no pics exist of the interiors in either of the late Don Pither's books!

I remember Gerry Marshall at Mallory Park in the 60's crashing one into the barriers just by the WC while I was minding me business doing my business (if you get my drift) I came out of that place like the wind pulling me kegs up.

Been right thru Dons' books with no luck. Another owner of a Sabre 4 rally car (who John will know) has a similar problem trying to track down interior shots of his car registered '42 ENX'.

Amazingly, as an aside, the Sabre 4 rally cars were just as successful as the sixes, if not more so. Though they did more events.

Would love to know which Sabre Gerry Marshall was driving!

More info

JUST in case any soul was watching this thread - thanks to another Sabre owner, we have found some photos taken of our rally cars interior by Don Pither in the early 80's when he owned the car, just before it went off to the Far East.

A 'four knob' speedpilot is the item that's needed to fill the big hole in the dash so we'll be putting our name down with the specialists as looking for such a beast.

The original was there when pictured, but has regretfully disappeared since. It did look in fairly bad condition though, broken knobs et al.

Cheers all
