Yes, the Gibson car is Scalex based. It had:

*Bonnet mods for bulges over struts
*Hot air outlet cut into bonnet
*Front airdam shape and angle changed
*Front wings modified - wheelarches and widened
*Rear wings modified - wheelarches and widened
*Tea-tray rear wing added - including extensions on tailgate

Basically, it would have been far easier to use an MSC car !!!!!

Actually, I think the Gibson car was a standard 6R4. The sidepod extensions were optional I think. Gollop's car ran with and without. The main difference in Gibson's car was the forward extending wing supports on the roof.....I think......

Being so low to the ground in that drawing, the avant model looks more suitable to been done up as a national hot rod from the 90's.

So the 2013 scalextric range is announced, and we do have a hoppy RS200, though the mock up model shows a co driver. There is to be a Stig Blomqvist Group B set with RS200, 6R4 and a new shape for scalextric, a sport Quattro. Though in one drawing they show the Sport, and another the winged S1 version. Plus the mk1 Escort is finally joined by mk2.

Okay we have seen sport and S1 Quattro's before from revell and top slot, and mk2's from SCX and top slot again. Still it's good to see some body shapes that in the future they could livery up as past rallycross cars.

If they could model the cossie like rear wing, a Dimi Quattro would look very good and go well with the Hoppy Model.

I'm looking forward to getting my hands on one of those Mk2s - after all the Scalextric one was based on a very familiar real mk2

All good news from Scalextric. I saw on eBay that the 6R4 is the Eklund Clarion version.

Eklund model is their 2012 release, for 2013 their website is showing Jimmy Mcrae's rothman version, but does say this is a photo and may not represent the actual model.

Didnt Steve Palmer run in ex Rothmans livery for his first few rallycross events?

The Blomqvist model in the group B pack they are saying is from a rallysprint event and plain white. But struggling to remember that event.

Great models. The Bardy car I always connected with start number 107.

Just seen the proposed 2014 Scaletric releases, and we have another scalextric Rallycross car to look forward to next year, Lawrence Gibson's 6R4.

Well done Scalextric, on giving us another classic and well loved Rallycross Car.

Sorry "BertMk2" didn't see your other thread.

Please scalextrix can we have a "Rennison" RS200 for the 2015 range.

It's good that Scalextric are covering rallycross models, hopefully we'll see some more in the future. I wonder if they'll go for some of the modern cars at some point? They already have the Fiesta, MINI and Polo so they could do a few cars from those, add a DS3 and they've got most of the options covered.

They looked at doing the Best Buy Fiesta's for 2013 but when we pulled out it obviously didn't go anywhere. Now that they have base Metro and RS200's with agreements from Ford and whoever owns the trademark/IP on the Metro then it becomes much easier.

You could always write to them direct. The guy who makes most of the decisions is a racer in the MINI Cooper Challenge and attends rallycross events regularly at Lydden as a fan and has done for years. They need approval from the sponsors to reproduce their decals, etc. but the hurdles are pretty small. A few emails from retro crossers for Renny would probably get the job done......

On a related topic there are always excellent custom rallycross models on eBay. I have bought several this year from "pitstopmodelcars" including Mr. Hathaways Mk2 and commissioned a set of every car I have rallycross'd/rallied as well as the Fiesta's of Marcus and David. Love buying my own Christmas presents. Right now he has an early Schanche Mk2 (78 maybe?) and the Newbould Renault. Worth checking out.

Rallycross is doing well from Scalextric at the moment!
