If anyone could have cheated death from the big C it would have been Tom, it seems he sadly lost this one RiP Big Tom.
I think this clip from Bathurst is a fitting and lasting memorial to the man http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M9I7G...layer_embedded |

A sad day for Motorsport. Such a shame he left a 'real' world shadow in the UK...
I know several TWR dealership employees who will be happy at this news. Why do people do these daft things, to tarnish their reputation. However, I will always be thankful for the RX7 in group 2, XJS that took BMWs ETCC toys, and the V12 Jags at LM. |

I saw this rather sad news on Autosport yesterday.
For me Tom was a big part of my early interest in motor sport. Whether it was his TWR Mazda RX7 in the BTCC, Rovers in the BTCC and ETCC or the awesome XJS in the ETCC or those iconic Silk Cut Jaguar Group C cars he was always up the front in something interesting. Some of his later years were a little controversial, but I'll always remember him as being responsible for some of my best motor sports memories. My thoughts are with his friends and family. RIP Tom and thanks for the memories! Mark |

A real racer if ever there was one, a big man with big ideas and big achievements with big cars. He was a fierce competitor at all levels, did he not race a F5000 with the Cologne V6 as well as all his Rover and Jag exploits? Started out as a Ford development engineer or am I mistaken?
RIP |

RIP Tom. I always admired his passion for racing. The 2000 & 2001 Arrows are the best looking F1 cars ever in my book. TWR was quite the empire!

Always sad when a legend passes away. Few have achieved so much in motorsport. Was tragedy that TWR disappeared too. Thanks for the memories.

It's indeed very sad to see him go, especially at the hands of such a disease. He has done great things for motorsport indeed, but he will not be remembered so positive everywhere (Arrows). Allthough the positives have tons more weight then the negatives.
