New hillclimb in Wales

Any news on the new hillclimb venue in Wales (?) which was planned for the year?

From www.top12runoff.co.uk:

The Huntington Park venue is still awaiting planning permission, but as soon as it is granted the machines will be on the place in days. Positioned just outside Kington, Herefordshire, on John Jones’ land, the hill is planned to measure just over a mile with a vertical difference of 240 feet. Shelsley Walsh has the biggest difference on the calendar at present with 328 feet difference from start to finish.

I still think the road up the Great Orme at Llandudno would make a mega hill climb course.
I'm not sure, but as you have to pay a toll to use it, it may not be classed as 'a public highway'.
There could be a possibility if - as Brucie says - "the price is right"

Used to be used for rallying, so there's obviously no problem with closing it for motorsport purposes.

I suggested this earlier in the year - it has been used as a rally stage in the past, so could be a hillclimb... The price IS right - £2 toll for a blast around (damn those other cars getting in the way)

Ah yes, I remember that thread now.

Now if somebody had the time to put a good case to the 'owners' of this road and suggest 'an out of peak holiday season date', well who knows?

Well if you look down from Hergest Ridge towards Huntington the proposed course is to the left of the old historic castle ruins. The stream at the bottom of the valley is the dividing line between England/Wales and the course will be on the English side.
I have walked it and it should be most impressive. A lot of variety in the design and the final climb is on a par with Dounes East Brae.

We will include more info on Top 12 Run Off when available. If you want any contact details please PM me.

The great Orme still is used for rallying - but would never get a speed licence

Even if it did, you'd probably face a lot of opposition anyway. The people round there don't like welcoming anything new at all. The rally stage was stopped one year and that was when the rallying community had done us in Llandudno a favour by knocking over a couple of local scumbags in the middle of the road anyway!

Like you say, would make a cracking course though.

Brecon Motor Club were planning to run a hillclimb on part of the Epynt stages. But their website ( http://www.breconmotorclub.co.uk ) has gone quiet on it, so I doubt it is going ahead in 2005.

The road around the Orme would be good & it could happen, but what would be better, starting from the cenotaph, to the sumit that would be awesome, but would never happen.

Up the Great Orme in Llandudno, North Wales. You sometimes hear Jack and Vera Duckworth on Coronation Street talking about it!
