Audi is back in the revised '01 BTCC. Sadly, they will be campaigning the 147 hatchback. Looks like the BTCC will go from being the top sedan class to the top hatchback series in the world. Hmmm, surely BMWs hatchbacks can't be far away...

Ooops, sorry, I meant Alfa Romeo!! I wonder how much does this announcement help the BTCC attract more manufacturers. Ford should be another pretty definite, but announced automaker? They'll just drive their WRC Focus from the dirt track to the road track? ;-)

So that's 6 Vauxhalls, 2 Fords, 2 Renaults, 2 Rovers and 2 Alfa Romeo's.
Should make for a good championship. also that new honda with it's clean engine looks like a competitor! I don't think that if Rover should enter BMW would because they couldn't afford getting beating by an ex-BMW marque |

Are there currently any Focus's (or Foci) racing in the UK atm? I did an interview with David Auger a while ago and he said he was a chance at racing a Pommy Focus at Maccau at the end of the year..

There's some Focus's (or Focii) in the NSC and I believe Simon Harrison will be bringing his into the BTCC Class B for the Oulton Park rounds.

Yes, G-R Motorsport will 'move up' to the BTCC Class B for the remainder of the season. Not sure if they will do the remaining Powertour dates or not. This is quite a turnaround for the team, as Simon Harrison told me earlier in the year that there was 'no way' that they would do the BTCC.
According to this week's Autosport, there will be two teams running Alfa's in next years BTCC - JS Motorsport will run 2 cars built by Nordauto, and Gary Ayles Racing will run Bigazzi built cars. |
