Amazing win for Eriksson yesterday, after the engine blow in the morning and the car only being two events old, what an achievement. With a second car nearly complete as well, looking good for MSE Ford. This just goes to show how much top line rallycross has progressed, being able to change an engine in time to compete in the third heats, and its seems to be the norm to carry a spare engine on board, gone are the disapointments of the old GP's when the top guys engines expired and the was that, Nittymaki in 87 and Arnesson a few years after, this can only be good.

I understood they did 2 hours and 15 minutes for the engine job and Eriksson claimed later it could have been done quicker with a bit more experience, like they had with the Mk6 Fiesta. Does anyone know comparable engine swap times from other motorsports?

Well for me it shows a few things! One is that not many people can complete with a team that can not only carry spare engines but change them that quick!!

Did the GpB guys have that much of a spares package maybe?

Anoher is that money talks!! No wonder they try and sell their cars for so much!! They have to recoup something!

Nice to see Jean-Luc up there, pure class in a glass. Legend and gentleman to the core.

I think in many series Edd they are not keen on engine swaps for cost reasons!!

I would imagine it would take some time in F1 coz of electronics etc, but not as long maybe coz its a common problem>

I do remember the Audi R8 had a whole back end "roll in?roll out" feature in that the entire rear end could be trolleyed in and out for 15 minute swaps!! Insane! Damn Germans and their efficiency!

a big well done to the Eriksson team, what a turn up for the books eh?

on the subject of engine changes, i seem to remember seeing that the merc dtm cars could have engine swaps done in around the 10-15 minute mark. they had everything designed and built into the car in modules. a few bolts and thats out the way etc, etc, etc
