What the hell is this??? Obviously they're desperate for GTE to be faster than GT3 but still. Crazy restrictors and Ferrari & Porsche with 12 liter fuel breaks. The WEC BoP-Waiver-Wagon AMR actually has the smallest amount of favourable breaks, lol.
Thanks for the find Ginaro |

Aaaaaand just as we say that the 458 loses 1.2 millimeters as BoP penalty, making the breathing space rather ridiculous against the completely restrictor free Porkies

ELMS GT class is made by an army of 458 GT + some porsche and one vantage... not great variety.

But that's what the GTE world consists of; I'm impressed by how many GTEs they've got running, regardless of what they are. In what is really a dying class they've got a lot of the available active cars that aren't in WEC.

Then again with FIA GT2 long gone and national champs gone all-GT3-frenzy it's not like there's any other place to run them in Europe (besides IGTO where they are now integrated with GT3 anyway)

Beaumesnil says on LMP3 press release:

'Driver/team restrictions reduced to minimum' sounds good in a sense that ELMS wouldn't necessarily have to be all-proam in the future. * though P3 not being spec class you will probably see manufacturers pushing for larger European presence than Oreca alone ever could Last edited by Deleted; 19 Jul 2014 at 13:44. |

Why are they buying Morgans? and not Ligiers. Or are we calling the new Ligier a morgan?

Good news for the ELMS and for fans of a certain Belgian team: MarcVDS are entering one Z4 GT3 in the GTC class for the Estoril round of the ELMS. Drivers - Bas Leinders/Markus Palttala/TBA. http://motor-racing.tv/marcvds/car/n...l#.VA8I8Mv6gm9

Hopefully that's a precursor to more ACO race outings.

For those of us that live on the other side of the pond and find European GT racing horribly confusing, to what degree does MarcVDS entry at Estoril simply represent opportunity racing? In other, are they doing this in part or whole because the season in the series they mainly run is over and the ELMS Estoril date is an easy, relatively low, no-conflict to get another race in for the team?

Well they do have a good record in ELMS, winning the only race they ever entered and that wasn't a lame Saleen meltdown class that day either

This series is seriously starting to follow WEC's logic of re-bopping LMGTE for every single race. For Ricard:
Porsche 991 RSR +5kg & 2,7mm restrictor from base Porsche 997 GT3 RSR 2013 -20kg Porsche 997 GT3 RSR 2012 -20kg & gurney -10mm Aston Martin Vantage 2013 -15kg & -0,6mm restrictor Aston Martin Vantage 2012 -10kg & -0,3mm restrictor Well even though the Aston is 85 kg underweight there's still way to go to Lotus Evora's 125kg weight break in ALMS 2012 |

dragging this thread up, i was reading an interview with signatech alpine's phillipe sinault the other day that had some interesting stuff in (if you can get beyond the painful formatting):
http://www.autonewsinfo.com/2014/09/...rd-133916.html first thing is his mention of budgets for next season: "just over" €2m for elms including le mans and €3.5m for wec? yikes. to align that with single seaters a formula renault 3.5 season for one driver is about the €1m mark, 17 races of 45 minutes each. assuming a fair old chunk of the elms budget is le mans, that's pretty good value for money if you're a driver with some cash. unless you're gold or platinum second thing is the suggestion of a new car. are they sniffing around a swap to the ligier? or is the new car from oreca due next season and i've just forgotten? |

thanks. it rang a bell but i'm ill and cannot brain
that timescale doesn't quite fit in with sinault's plans, so it'll be interesting to see if they just decide to go with it or not. |

Apart from Imola clashing with the N24 (which MUST be sorted by that time hopefully), I don't see faults with this. Good locations, 20 hours of racing and there doesn't seem to be anything to increase costs for teams - ELMS 2015 should have similar/larger grid numbers.

Well (even if for different circumstances) we remember the last time ELMS race was scheduled to conflict with N24...
