Driving Standards

In light of several incidents in which cars have been taken out at the last 2 rounds, does the IPO/Driving Standards Observer need to pull the entire field at the next round and read the riot act? It just seems that at this rate something very bad may happen at Symmons Plains.

Believe it or not stmookeyj033, that is done at every round. I have sat through the drivers briefing and the law is laid down quite clearly to the drivers.

The racing in recent years has become boring because the driving standards are too rigid. Formula Ford drivers get away with more.

If our drivers went to Europe they would wet their skirts when they get pushed.

Our V8 drivers are getting soft. Bring back the biff.

In the old days, what happened on the track was sorted out on the track, consistant pushing from one driver earned a bit of pay back and then everything settles down. The current drivers are scared of rubbing panels for fear of copping a penalty.

Managed to catch the highlights today. Avoidable contact, pressing each other off track(onto the runoff with better surface..) and just plain bad driving everywhere. Crash v GT was mega of course. Also Courtney and Davison when JC came out of pits. Plus on of the super cheap cars(must be a cheap car to drive it that badly) punting John Bowe(I think), and many more. And all this at the mile-wide Bahrain track. Hmmmm....

NASCAR drivers have quite similar cars, even more horsepower, even less road racing experience, yet they somehow manage to leave each other plenty of racing room. Maybe they just are more used to longer races and don't turn off their brains.

the racing room theory seems to have been brushed aside by the drivers and the officals

at least three times i watched GT drive other cars of the track and not one penalty.

enforce that rules for a few races and watch the passing increase

you have to have a brain to start with to turn it off, but i supose if some of them did have brains they would be more dangerous than they already are.
