ascona i2000 should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Formula ford barrier vault at Donington.

Was telling my son about an accident i saw at Donington at redgate when i was a lad, (early 90s). I tried to find some pics on the net but cant. It was a red formula ford which cleared the fence at redgate and hit a parked ambulance.
I know some pictures exist as there used to be some of the incident in the club house at Thruxton some years ago. Does anybody who, when and any pics etc? Ta

There is a series of B/W and colour photos here (if you can access Facebook). Just scroll left and right to see the different shots.

I saw this crash too, he bounced off the ambulence roof and then skittled some lady having a quiet pint in the redgate lodge beer garden. They closed it after that. Minor injuries for her, i think broken ankles for the driver, an American first name Scott? Those facebook pictures ran as sequence in Autosport and b&ws of the same made the nationals but can't remember which. Did you see the xr3i crash at the same place at the same meeting? I seem to remember that brought the day to a close?

Sandie Brodie, of Des Moines, Iowa.

At the time, was being helped out by Alan Docking, although IIRC someone else was running the FF for him.

I"m new to the forum from today.
I was searching for any reference to an XR3 crash at Donington because I think I was the driver.
If you are refering to a red/white Marlboro style car then it definately was me. The car was a total write off and was then cut up and scrapped, during this process we found a piece of timber lodged in the roof that ran from the tailgate and stopped just by my head !
I do have a video of the accident that shows the car that pushed me off hit me so hard that his front wing flies off and goes so high it disappears off the top of the screen.

I have found the programme for this meeting.
It was the British F3000 raceday held on September 1st 1991.
