Dijon 4th - 5th October Sports Proto race

SPCC is a fantastic French / Italian Sports Car series, mostly for Sports Protos from 1970's - late 1990's. Its like a younger brother of the Orwell Supersports Series.

There is a race at Dijon on 4th - 5th October. I have attached the entry form, and provisional entry list if anybody wants to join in. They really are a super lot to race with, and shared drives are welcomed.

Its good value for money at 600 Euros for 90 minutes of free practise, 2 x 30 minute qualifying sessions and 2 x 30 minute races. There is even talk of concessions for the Brits in order to help with ferry crossings, provided 4 or more Brits go.

If anyone wants more details check out http://www.autotecnica.fr/spcc.php or email me.

More entries now recieved since last post - nearly upto 30 cars, but there is still space if anyone wants to stick in a late entry.
Fabio is also laying on a party on Saturday night for all entries.

It was a good weekend, with lots of track time - some cars ran for over 70 laps. It was a real mix of cars with Lucchinis, Giada, Chevron, Lola, Osella, Bogani, Norma, Rawlson etc and I have attached some pictures.
For anyone racing there this weekend, the run off for the last corner has been significantly improved.

Looking ahead to 2009, the aim is for a 4 or 5 race calender, with a races at Spa, Dijon, Magny Cours and a round in Italy (either Mugello or Imola) and the UK (hopefully with new BRSCC series for Sports Protos)

Yes the Rawlson was a Sports 2000, but it was running with a Cosworth Sierra engine instead of the pinto.

1982 Chevron B60 Thundersports (picture from last years race)
They are a very friendly crowd, and everyone at the dinner on Saturday night had an enjoyable time. If anyone is looking to change series next year, SPCC is well worth a look.

I did Thundersports 85, so probably raced against this in its first incarnation. Does this make me old?

S2000 Aquila RO83S - pre-production Shrike. Well, running bit of a misnomer, walking more like. Never troubled the scorer.

This is an interesting entry list. Do they take anything with two seats? Do you reckon it'll change from an "all sorts" race to sports racer only? Good tracks, altho Mugello is a bit of a trek.

Tom - you would be very welcome on the SPCC grid. The website address for more details is http://www.autotecnica.fr/spcc.php

Email Fabio (series organiser who speaks perfect English) and he will add you to the email list for details about 2009. There will be a lunch in Paris in the coming months, which all prospective drivers are very welcome to attend to find out more about the series.

Midgetman - I think the only cars SPCC are not keen on are those with motorcylcle engines.

James is your B60 behind the leading Chevron? Are you sure its an '82 car, the B60 was the S2000 for 1983. T'Sports started here in '83.

Dan - my white B60 is the lead car (the white car behind is a Lola DFV)
My B60 was the 1st chassis made, and according to Chevron people of the era, it was constructed as a thundersports car for Sweden and was the fore runner to the later Sports 2000's.

Blimey James, it looks just like a B26/31/36! Is the Lola the ex-Wallis/Otford Group T286?

Its B36 type body work. Andreason stuffed it into the Swede in the mid 1980's after the Swede's were unhappy with the poorly fitted B60 body work supplied by the Scotish mob. The car has run with this style of body work for over 20 years now.

The Lola is the famous Otford Group T286 from 1979.
Most of the cars are in SPCC are not as exotic as the T286, and SPCC is an ideal series if anyone has a proto type from the 1970 - 1990's with no where to race it.

Are Sports 2000's welcomed, James? I'm off to Nuerburgring with Delta, and a couple of FF2000 guy's you'll know, this weekend, with an endurance-spec Tiga S2000. Knowing the people concerned, the lure of friendly hospitality and fine wine might be attractive!

Hi Alan,

A Sports 2000 Tiga would be very welcome. Glen Dudley ran his S2000 last year at Dijon, and he was very competitive. But regardless of outright pace, there is always someone to race against.
