motorcycle crankcase evacuation pump

I am working on a drag motorcycle and thinking of ways to improve horsepower. One application I've come across a lot in American drag racing is a crankcase evacution pump. However, on a bike we can't run a belt driven system, an exhaust driven system is innefficient so it only leave a electric pump. Has anyone used or come across such an application?

I have used the Moroso exhaust kit on V8's and you get a right nice little pressure/vacuum surprisingly high actually, have you actually tried one of these set ups, Real Steel sells the kit.

Thanks for reply. Talked to Moroso guys and they were unsure if the motorcycle would generate enough negative pressure in the exhaust to find any gains. But still worth a go, only way to know for sure.

You onlu need the one way valve from Real Steel and they sell them separate, the rest you could fabricate yourself so should not be too costly to try.

The other option is use a dry-sump oil pump to do it. Obviously, in normal guise, it'd be pumping the oil around the motor, so it'll get it's own lube from that oil. If you're going to use it as a vac pump, then you may need to think about lubricating it somehow.

It's what we do with big lumbering Chevy V8's to get the best power out of them!

I've just re-read your message where you say you can't use a belt driven pump. Why not?

more likely because a motorcycle engine is fully enclosed, there simply isnt anywhere to drive a belt from, unless you fancing remanufacturing the end cases and extending the crankshaft!
