[DVD] Gulf/Wyer GT40s & 917s in action
I few days ago I have bought a DVD called "Gulf/Wyer GT40s & 917s in action":
Description: Quote:
I like especially the 2nd part (35 minutes) about the Gulf Porsches in the 1970 sportscar season. Between the coverage of the races the season is commented by legend John Wyer. There are some nice pics of the Targa Florio. The 1st part gives a good view on the Le Mans race of 1968. At that time the circuit was really a public road circuit (and as a result not very safe). I can really recommend this DVD. [@ the moderators: Probably this posting belongs to Armchair Enthusiast section. I posted it in this section because of the subject, but feel free to move] |

I would love to see a 60 or 90 minutes long DVD which covers the Targa Florio of that time period.

Yeah, the stuff in Speed Merchants is great, but not nearly enough.
I haven't watched that Wyer tape in ages, as my dad's got it. Great stuff, though. |

I have the tape as well, the Ford part is OK but the Porsche one is much better. I wish there would be more stuff available about that period...68-71

Definotely worth having. For me, I prefer the Ford part of it - as there is so little about the 917s at Le Mans (as they had a disaster!).

You could also look at La Ronde Infernale, which is the film of the 1969 race and also there was a video called "The History of Le Mans" which looks like it started as a series of half-hour TV shows. There's good stuff on both of them.
And then there's the Steve McQueen movie...... of which I have three copies. Kramer |

I've had the video for ages. One of my favourite bits is Seppi and Pedro blatting down to Eau Rouge. Neither was going to give way.... |

I'd have thought you would have had it by now Fab. Was that from Duke? They're normally pretty reliable. I'd email them and ask if there's a problem.....

Not Duke but Terrific Stuff Video Ltd... I let a message this morning... waiting for the answer, but I hope they won't answer "sorry, mail's fault, we're not responsible"...

Fab, I get usually one week to 10 days to get stuff from the UK over to Holland. Then again, you also depend on "La Poste".......
From the US this is more around 4 weeks. |

Bad luck mate. If you don't mind waiting and paying over the odds, there is always the Chaters book stall at Le Mans each year. Definitely seen a few copies of it there.

Have you had any answer from them Fab?
Email me with the details - because of what I do, I can sometimes make useful representations in things like this. |
