Can you recognise a car by word only??
I've small problem: the manga comic I just read had a strange car in it, problem is, I do not have a scanner, so I can not send an image of it... but maybe there is someone, who knows, what it is just by my description.
The manga is 'Gunsmith Cats: The return of Gray' Dark Horse paperback Car body resebles that of AC 3000ME, bulging front and rear wings, sharp nose BUT this thing is a fastback, oddly high tailed one, large squarish tail-lights, double exhaust pipes, headlights are much like in Porsche 928, bonnet has 12 square air vents, 6 in the middle, near the windshield, others lower in both sides of the bonnet. It probably is not any imagination car, because all the other vehicles, like Shelby GT500, VW Beetle, BMW 2002 turbo etc. are accurate. Last edited by 429CJ; 30 May 2003 at 18:04. |

No. car is more like TVR Tasmin, but rear lights are way different, and it doesn't have that small rear window under the real rear window.

No, I think this is hopeless. I try to use some scanner, maybe my parents, to get the pictures.

The Midas was indeed derived from the Mini Marcos ("developed" isn't really the right word ) and I think it was designed by Richard Oaks who's other claim to fame is the gracefull lines of the Dutton Sierra

Licence number is "THX-1138". George Lucas' favourite number. Name of his classic art-house feature film that started his career, it then appeared on the licence plate of Harrison Ford's '32 Model B Coupe in American Graffiti. Not only that, in the novel of "Star Wars" it's the callsign of the stormtrooper who gets walloped in the Millennium Falcon, and gives up his uniform for Luke and Han to go looking for Princess Leia.

No, I'm sorry. My manga hobby is quite new, and I've concentrated on GSC and Yakuza saga 'Sanctuary'. And 'Back to the Future car is a De Lorean, not Acura NSX.

Swerving slightly off topic.
Pantera's were interesting cars. They started w/ Ford motors but switched after a couple years to AMC (Rambler) mills if I remember. They had some interesting quirks. Their wheel wells caught water and were subject to rust. In fact, some owners brought their cars to the shop with as much as 5 gallons of water sloshing around in them. Ballast maybe? I notice both photos on the web link page show Panteras sitting on wet pavement. Either it was raining, or they were leaking. Back to thread.... Last edited by Neil C; 9 Jun 2003 at 19:39. |

Well, I think this thread is more of 'case close' territory now...
