This doesn't make much sense to me considering how crap the first article was im far less inclined to trust this one and this situation is much less plausible Ford US would never walk out on a deal because of this

Fortunately, there is some positive news out of that report, hopefully this is accurate.

However, if the Supercars version of the Mustang goes ahead for 2019, it will retain the highly developed five-litre V8 that has powered racing Falcons for more than two decades.

Despite the political damage of this week's flurry of speculation, DJRTP and PRA remain confident that talks with Ford will resume and that an agreement to race Mustangs will eventually be reached for 2019 and beyond.

Surely ford aren't going to walk out on a deal because some fool started the speculation before it was conclusive. If this is true though surely Pra and DJRTP would be looking at suing phelps for this

I hardly think a court case like that would get very far.....

Where is Winterbottom's responsibility in all this, didn't he supply Phelps the quotes?

Can't believe Ford could be such idiots, the Mustang is a hero car and selling as fast as Ford AU can get it. Fans want to cheer for it hence the press interest.

If the Mustang is selling as fast as they can get it, and throwing money at Supercars didn't help sales of the Falcon in the end, where is the incentive to throw money at Supercars with a Mustang?

There isn't a lot of business sense for Ford to enter the series at the moment.

Roger Penske is not going to throw his toys out of the pram because Ford won't let him run a Mustang in Australia.

Okay thanks mate but I didn't mean the second comment about NASCAR it just a exaggeration and a bit of a joke lol But if this rumour of dodge is true wouldn't they want to be treading more carefully and not get on his "bad side? just a thought. But considering how badly ford sales have been wouldn't it be potentially worthwhile to take a gamble on investment in Supercars?

Knowing from an inside source, no Frosty didn't say a thing to James Phelps. I can understand this would confuse a few people. As it is nothing has been said to Phelps or the company he works for in regards to a new car next year. This is also something that could damage the Ford relationship. Just clarifying Frosty though, don't believe Phelps. Basically unless Speedcafe, or V8s have it on their websites, odds are it isn't too reliable, there is another one I can think of but cant remember its name that is pretty accurate.

I'm no fan of James Phelps, but I find it hard to believe he would fabricate complete quotes for a made up story...

Where is Frosty's denial that he didn't say those things?

I very rarely believe what James Phelps writes..... but you are not seriously saying we can believe Speedcafe and especially the official Supercar website as being reliable sources of news are you!?!

I don't think PRA or DJRTP are wasting their time with Phelps, rather working on a new deal.

While these aren't the most reliable sites, they are still more reliable then the likes of daily telegraph and the rest. After hearing what Phelps thought about Pither's pole position last year, I wouldn't put anything ridiculous past him just so he can get news attention

Interesting to hearon Inside Supercars of the possiblity that DJR Penske would get rid of Fabian Coulthard for Craig Lowndes. Lowndes always said he wanted to end his career with Ford. Could this be that chance?

LOL! Was Phelps on tonight? Unless it was 100% driven by a major sponsor, I can't see it.

Fabs appears to be hitting his peak. While Craig is in his twilight.

Did he say this while he was still under his 1 mil per year Ford contract. Or after 888 switched to Holden?

It was Phelps... His 'Headline' is based on both Fabs and Craig both being out of contract this year.
