The future of the DTM
Yes, I know this is the sportscar and GT forum, but bear with me.
When the DTM/ITC collapsed at the end of 1996, Mercedes-Benz, the only manufacturer still committed after the withdrawal of Opel and Alfa Romeo, switched across to the then-new FIA GT Championship. So, might Mercedes-Benz be tempted to do the same for 2006 if the DTM can't find a new manufacturer to replace Opel? Audi will have their new prototype to race and so might decide that spending all that money just competing against Mercedes-Benz isn't worth it. AMG Mercedes-Benz SL600 for GTs? |
