Welcome back Steve. Where have you been?
I think everybody had forgotten blue diamond - until you've just reminded them that is. |

Le Mans at the w/e, still recovering. And been offline due to technical problems, but good to see you are keeping all the FF talk bubbling. I've got a lot to catch up on.

My understanding was Jan used a Minister nick named Rocket to win the 92 festival. It was the head, inlet and carb that were the trick bits but legal. This engine was better than Patch by this time.
Last I heard Frank Bradley had it but that was years ago. John |

Can anyone tell me anything about 'RS' FF1600 motors? From Cambridge I think? A sort of Auriga-like block colouring.

considering the regulations regarding the inlet manifold stipulate that the casting must be 711xxxx with the standard cast finish and no modifications AT ALL (bar refacing the carb area to maintain a horizontal float chamber...) how the fook can one ever be classed as "trick" this lot all seems to be a load of talk talk and not much else..... Mini old chap you did not own the engines they were loan works motors and we are talking differant years aswell, also poss the best FF1600 engine builder is SA-Trevor-Von-Rooyen and trust me he will go threw about 500= inlet manifolds and cams and carbe ext all on the flow bench just to match the best parts he can to make the best motor!!!

i was meaning all these people that claim to have patch in the back of there car now etc, pretty good considering it shredded itself a while back! so how do you fit a cam on a flow bench so instead of the word being 'trick' the word should be 'matched' |

If Matt Gilmore has got Rocket this was the best Minister engine (up to 1992).
We had a very good Scholar for 1993/94 then packed up Kents. |

Having heard how much his Dad has - alledgedly - pumped into his racing, perhaps the enough is enough stage has been reached.

There was a small piece in MN the other week saying he would miss the Kirky Festival rather than risk another hospital visit due to allegedly poor driving standards. He retired after the Festival last year, so it wouldn't be the first time.

I heard at brands last year he was quitting after a good win,but he kept racing on. Its in his blood he may keep regional racing, but I think it maybe time to knock on the head the pro racing. Shame as he was pretty impressive. Never understood what happened to him in F3.
