You were misinformed Paul - it's just the gravel trap that they're going to name after him

I have a theory that Justin has decided that decking and slabs are so last century for gardens and he's devised a cunning plan to gather loads of pea gravel on the cheap (ish)

lol - yeah mega cheap!

All it cost me was: a radiator, a pushrod, a side panel, a water pump belt, a respray and 25 points!

So you're admitting that Jamie would have beaten you to second place then?

I meant min. 25 points. Of course I could have been crashed into at the hairpin!

The pic of the hairpin incident is in today's MN.

I don't normally believe in raking over incidents after the event. Take it on the chin and move on. However, in this instance, as you've raised it, I will make an exception.

Your dig suggests you are still upset about going off when you tried to pass Jamie at Gerrards. You seeming to suggest that he squeezed you off the circuit.

The fact is that Ian Sowman + all the people (without exception)standing at Gerrards thought the move was never on. They can't all be wrong!!

With regard to the hairpin, Jamie was frustrated by the incident as he believed Gavin had run wide (which the position of his car in the picture relative to Jamie's car tends to endorse) and therefore there was space to go through on the inside. However, after the race he accepted what happened as a racing incident and moved on. As I said at the outset, what's done is done.

I don't really know which "dig" you are referring to, nor am I going to sit here debating the incident on a public forum.

I will say this though - the move I made was near identical to the one I made (successfully) on Gavin Wills 5 minutes earlier. Its possible Jamie didn't see me, but I was well down the inside by the time we turned in - but he turned in anyway, I took to the grass so we didn't make contact. People see you on the grass and assume its a desperate dive, and your cutting the corner - I had to so he didn't hit me!

Although some would argue I should have held my line, and let him hit me if that's what he wants - Gerrards isn't and ideal place to play games like that - if we touched wheel etc it would have hurt at that speed. I can't comment on what other people think they saw - I can say the view from the commentary box is not good enough to tell how far alongside him I was.

That said, unless he's got a screw loose, I doubt it was an intentional move - more likely he didn't see me.

Last comment on this. I repeat, your version does not tally with Jamie's account, what I saw and what everyone around me saw.

Surely the only thing that is in contention (potentially) is how far alongside I was? the fact that I actually spun in front of him suggest I was alongside!

Interesting facts and views. My first dnf of the year was at Maggots when I was 51% alongside but had to take to the grass to save interlocking wheels. I put it down to racing! It makes FF1600 exciting and sometimes unpredictable. (I did cry though when I got home..., I thought it was the curse of Ian Sowman, now I find Stuart has also put a spell on me)

The stewards had no problem with what happened, so I agree, a racing incident and no more. Lets move on.

Andrew Wilkins: "And he's done it! Jamie has got past Justin and up a place, but Justin fights back - LOOK! Oh, there's almost contact there. Justin goes all the way down the grass - oh dear, oh dear, oh dear. Justin Dawkins, trying to take the inside line going into Gerard's Bend got two wheels on the grass and speared off into the gravel trap. He's perfectly okay, Justin already out of the car, but his heart must have sunk right down through his boots. Out come the waved yellows."

Moving on...............the next "battle" to take place at Mallory is the Edwina Overend Memorial Trophy race with a final prize fund of £2000. Entries are now available. It is limited to 42, there are 23 definites already and alot more interest, so if you are not a regular at Mallory but would like to come and sample the racing, the banter and atmosphere, all at a low low price of £140, please send your entry in, or pm me and I will despatch one to you.

key objectives for this race:
low entry fee
decent race distance (15mins)(14 entries will get 2 races)
substantial prize money (£2000 between 3 places in each class)

when successful, more next year.

please support this event.
Thanks

Not supposed to show anything really, I was just a bit bored. Hear Infiniti might be running quite a few cars there.
