VW Buys Pork
Well Porsche actually.
Seems like things have come full circle here, but really the beating of breasts by Porsche fans is something to behold. OK as a sports car the 911 takes some beating but you have to know how to drive it and there aren't that many who can. Frankly I don't see the problem as long as VW dumps that heap of crap known as the Cayenne. |

Might be a heap but it sold by the bucketload when it came out
Punters are notoriously idiotic, thats why they buy 3 series, Merc setc with no thought And also why Chelsea tractors are now more popular than estate cars Cars are now fasion statements in the same way handbags, trainers and watches are in a lot of poeples eyes, hence conertiables, Audi TT and Mini/FIAT 500 |

You know, when you posted the thread I thought "Wow , the ownership (the two breeds of the Porsche family) is re-united. We may get another Auto Union."
Now today, I get my newspaper in with a huge article on the front page stating that "VW flirts with F1". What have been rumours so far has been confirmed by "an insider of VW's inner circle". Names have not been called obviously though. VW daughter Audi has already developed an engine which is supposed to be tried out in IndyCar and then with possible improvals is thought for F1. With all the sports car competence VW has now under its belt it may well be possible that we get another Auto Union in a not too distant future. sources: Braunschweiger Zeitung [BZ], July 31st Frontpage and background story http://www.newsclick.de/ - frontpage of the BZ website http://www.newsclick.de/index.jsp/me...artid/10713098 - continuing article on the website If you ask me, this is the most sensational (motor[sport]) news of the week so far. It beats the Michael Schumacher comeback and the BMW F1 demise by miles so far |
