Where to for V8 supercars in 2003
Which way should the V8's go from here. do they go F1 style and allow traction control etc, or nascar and have controlled ecu and suspension. Any thought's.

Before they try any of this they should try and get them racing and passing again...

From what i've heard and read around the traps this project blueprint is going to send it down the nascar path. But i'll wait and see whether it will work.

What do you mean 'send it down' - it is already heading that way anyway...
Whose front spoiler is that anyway? |

If they head down a NASCAR path, technically the class would not then be Touring Cars would it?
I have yet to work out why they just don't get rid of the wings and lose an inch or two of rubber, it is obvious that it will improve the racing. Actually tellign other manufacturers that they can enter will help as well, though this can't be done for 2003. |

Why can't it be done for 2003?
There is no such thing as 'can't be done' The only reason it 'can't be done' is because there are vested interests that would suffer if other manufacturers are allowed in - and we can't have that now, can we? |

They need to do something it's getting boring. I dont se that much problem with passing they are doing it in the konica's. Other makes would be good they might as well start planning now because next year they will say it wont happen for 2004!!!! so on

Maybe there is plenty of passing. We just don't see it because channel serious is over-using the in car cameras.

yeah im sick of seeing HRT whip everyone elses sorry butts, thats why we miss all the passing because camera is always on car number 1, no passing happens! i reckon i could probably name all the sponsors on that car... I would like to see more of the back markers too, i think its more passionate for them because they actually need to try and do good for the points and the cash, so they put in more effort to pass and the racing is more interesting. And no wonder some have problems with sponsorship, the only time they are on the camera is when their car is in the wall or when they misjudge pit strategy...

When ever they do something wrong we see them. Thats why alot of back markers get bad raps, we only see the mistakes they make not the 8 passes etc they do during the races.
Mabye something will happen when the rating dive bomb |

Once upon a time in-car cameras were placed throughout the field so there was a better chance of catching all of the action but then 'White' man decided to increase revenue by charging 'seriously' high fees for the priviledge of carrying a camera unless you were one of the high profile teams (ironically the only ones who could afford to pay). The end.
A number of big name sponsors spend lots of advertising dollars while the races are on but unless they pay the additional, they still do not get a camera. Therefore we have a situation where the emphasis is on only a third of the teams and drivers. As Peter Garrett from Midnight Oil would put it, "the rich get richer and the poor get the picture" but not the exposure it would appear. |

Catalina is a hell of a track but there would be no passing on it! Just take the inside line and you can block all day!

Catalina it is a hell of a track. It only has one racing line.Move off the line and you run over roots of trees or moss on the edges. Then you water running across the track. All good fun.And people complain that Canberra is narrow.

Pity all i can do is ride my bike around Catalina nowadays
I'll be happy if something is able to be done to produce some passing. I haven't got a problem with TWR dominating, no-one complained when the Sierra was the car to have and DJR left them all behind. |
