Spectating at Goodwood (not revival)

Today I went to goodwood for the CTCRC sprint meeting, which was quite good with some excellent cars out and (some) good photography opportunity's....

Well the spectator area between the exit of Madgwick and entry to woodcote has been fenced off (75% of circuit) apparently due to the aviation authority's 'safety' rules.

Then after walking to madgwick I was told that Madgwick was out of bounds and the limit was the startline building, so that leaves only the chicane and half of Woodcote to spectate from.

Then I was told that no spectators are allowed at all! I'm confused!

Anybody know anything about this? I know that no meetings except the revival are promoted for spectators at goodwood but there are some other good events there - rallys and sprints and it would be a shame if spectating is no longer allowed at these.

I was there this afternoon spectating and i did notice more activity in the aerodrome than what is normal for a weekend! and i know that due to bloomin caa rules that at the revival they cordon of those two areas when the warbirds are displaying, either that or could it be due to a nasty accident that happened a week or so ago on track and that they do not want people wandering all over the place? and risk been hit by debris???? just clutching at straws! ps..loved the sd1 rover and capri taking part

There was a reasonable number of spectators when I did a stage rally there in Feb, they were from at least before the chicane round to the second corner IIRC. Can't remember if they were anywhere else!

Didn't think of Thruxton incident but I doubt its a knee jerk reaction, but it may be.

I liked the renault alpine and also the corvette, not things you see out all the time. Volvo and SAAB were strange race/speed event cars! Some very nice cortinas and escorts as well

I was chatting to the Saab owner he is after signatures and knows the car us uncompetitive (I lapped him 4 times last weekend at SIlverstone) but he needs the signatures as he is entered into the 24 hour LeMans Classic in an old Saab works entry.

Come to Brands on the 5th 6th June if you liked the Capris and Rovers and you may even see an old Camaro in the mix!

I am trying to upload a bit of video I took at Goodwood today just to give you a flavour of the meeting.

euromarshal should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid

I had a very nice day yesterday : left home at 5.00 am and back home at 11.00 pm , 750k and eurotunnel .
I saw some great clubracing and the cleanest circuit i have ever seen and i have seen some circuits the last 20 years
a chief marshal told me that I would have a great day and as always he was right !
I wish we could have club events like this in belgium

so if you see an 99 ford mondeo with belgian numberplates : it's me
