Do we have list of participants for today's (Tuesday) Bugatti test? In addition to MSR that is

Anyway, finally caught up with the test day...

LMP1 - interesting but not very conclusive, apart from the obviously baffling Toyota situation again

LMP2 - as I always said, Oreca is hyper optimized for LM (just as their LMP1 04 sister ) - and perhaps Onroak will answer to this in following similar route come the new spec regs

LMGTE - bags and bop

I about lost it as my mind inevitably went towards issues during the race itself. Let's hope my pessimism will be unfounded.

To all you lucky gals and gents whom will be trackside. Jealousy doesn't begin to describe my current state. We're in for a cracker with emotional highs and lows I fear.

Rebellion too will test on Bugatti today.

BTW what does Negri pay for his MSR seat? Because if not huge sums, I'm not sure why Shank keeps him around, crashes almost as often as Pew.

I thought Negri was Pew's driver coach as well?

Negri's description of the crash suggested some sort of failure in the rear of the car (suspension or tyre). It was an out lap and he wasn't pushing. Maybe he would say that, but you can't hide from the telemetry, so maybe that's what it was.

What are people's thoughts on whether it's possible we'll see improved laptimes from last year?

We can't talk about it in the prediction thread - but judging by those all but one person has them going quicker than Jani's 2015 lap in qualy.

There were only 3 tenths in it between the best time on Test Day last year and this year (3.21.061 vs 3.21.375). But obviously conditions were generally worse from memory this time last year.

There was also a feeling in qualifying last year that due to traffic and accidents we didn't quite see the ultimate pace.

My gut feeling is it will be close but just not quite as quick.

I think they can go faster despite the attempts to slow them down as that lap was at the beginning of the week when the track was still green and we couldn't see the true pace at the end of Thursday night qualifying

However if it rains all week then our pole times will be completely wrong

Thanks

Find it interesting being pure prototype affair

IIRC this test counted in for the "private" test allocation so maybe that partly explains the only 10 car showup. Not that it's ever been uber popular though

The MSR rebuild finish:

Alright so ten teams, but 15 cars.

They also answered my semiquestion:
"We are not allowed to spend more than one hour on the circuit per car, otherwise it counts as a test day and is deducted from our quota for the year."

Also in the Rebellion quote, "The driver has been instructed to avoid the rumble strips during these tests.

Guess that means Audi, at least, didn't use a test day from their allocation? Maybe the Rebellion stayed off curbs to preserve the components.

Rear wing comparision. Eyeballing it Audi seem to have the most wing, Toyota the least.

Yes and Audi still have the hightest top speed(though being in the 6MJ helps there) which kind of hints to how good their aero package seems to be

I think Toyota will have the highest top speeds, since they were doing over 330 every lap at Paul Ricard with the same kit.

Also almost certainly Audi have a more rear biased weight distribution than the other 2 which means that they must put on more rear wing, but will have less at the front.

331 and 332kmh on the #8 in the morning session. But those were set after long laps ran under a slow zone. So the 3 lap average allows that top speed. But looking at the lap times they didn't really do many above 320kmh on fast laps 3:25s or better then. The afternoon session had a few sub 3:25's, but only 2 of those laps with a top speed above 320kmh. One was by the #7, it's first lap in the session.
